What do you think about hypnotherapy ?
“Will you make me cluck like a chicken?” 🐔
…is a question I get a lot as a hypnotherapist.
And my answer?
Only if you want to cluck like a chicken.
There's often confusion between stage hypnosis (entertainment with willing participants and subconscious cues) and hypnotherapy, which is a very effective therapy to support your wellbeing.
Hypnotherapy isn’t about making you do things—it’s about helping you make the real and lasting changes that you want.
✅ What Hypnotherapy Is:
• A collaboration between the therapist and the client—you're always in control.
• A Deeply relaxed state of body and mind.
• A clinical tool used to access the subconscious mind, where habits, beliefs, and
emotions are deeply rooted.
• A safe and natural state—similar to daydreaming or being deeply absorbed in
a book or movie.
🧠 What It’s Used For:
• Breaking bad habits (e.g., smoking, nail-biting)
• Reducing stress and anxiety
• Improving sleep
• Overcoming fears/phobias (e.g., fear of flying, public speaking)
• Managing chronic pain
• Boosting confidence and self-esteem
• Enhancing performance (sports, academics, creativity)
❌ What Hypnotherapy Is Not:
• Mind control or brainwashing—you cannot be made to do anything against
your will or values.
• Stage hypnosis—which is entertainment, not therapy.
• Sleep—you remain aware and responsive during sessions.
