What do you think about hypnotherapy ?

“Will you make me cluck like a chicken?” 🐔
…is a question I get a lot as a hypnotherapist.

And my answer?
Only if you want to cluck like a chicken.

There's often confusion between stage hypnosis (entertainment with willing participants and subconscious cues) and hypnotherapy, which is a very effective therapy to support your wellbeing.

Hypnotherapy isn’t about making you do things—it’s about helping you make the real and lasting changes that you want.

✅ What Hypnotherapy Is:
• A collaboration between the therapist and the client—you're always in control.
• A Deeply relaxed state of body and mind.
• A clinical tool used to access the subconscious mind, where habits, beliefs, and
emotions are deeply rooted.
• A safe and natural state—similar to daydreaming or being deeply absorbed in
a book or movie.

🧠 What It’s Used For:
• Breaking bad habits (e.g., smoking, nail-biting)
• Reducing stress and anxiety
• Improving sleep
• Overcoming fears/phobias (e.g., fear of flying, public speaking)
• Managing chronic pain
• Boosting confidence and self-esteem
• Enhancing performance (sports, academics, creativity)

❌ What Hypnotherapy Is Not:
• Mind control or brainwashing—you cannot be made to do anything against
your will or values.
• Stage hypnosis—which is entertainment, not therapy.
• Sleep—you remain aware and responsive during sessions.

I put myself in the path of beauty this morning for a lovely walk in the sunshine.

I noticed I was stepping between a couple of paths most of the time, the higher path dry and easy to walk on the lower path muddy and wet, but then after a few feet the high path had a puddle and I was back on the lower path and vice versa.

It made me think that through life we walk different paths at different times for different reasons, but they’re all part of our journey.

I stuck this photo and a quote from the amazing Cheryl Strayed on my notice board about a month ago to remind me of what I want to do more of this year.

I see it there every day, and although I haven’t ventured out into the woods yet (I’m a warm weather person) I’m planning it …….I’m imagining it…. I’m feeling it…. I’m getting ready to make the most of the coming warmer weather …. the getting ready to do something is so important.

We dont always have to jump straight in to something, we can start by creating the feeling around it. 💖
