Today, we're celebrating amazing care at Boots Opticians Handforth Dean, because moments like these show the real impact our team has every day! 🌟
We recently welcomed a visitor to the store who came to try out the Ray-Ban META glasses. She mentioned that she uses technology in her daily life to support her independence as she has severe sight impairment and cerebral palsy.
She said: "I was amazed at their capability in terms of describing my surroundings, but as I couldn't use an iPhone very well this meant that Dale had to undergo a lot of research in his own time. Due to the fact that he went above and beyond his duty in aiding me with the setup plus the excellent aftercare I am now able to experience a whole new world, for example the glasses permitted me to walk into a supermarket with a sighted assistance who stood me in front of the drinks I was then able to ask the glasses to read the drinks out, it even read the back of packing which wasn't visible to a sighted person at the time."
Dale, one of our dedicated Dispensing Opticians, went above and beyond to make her visit tailored to her needs. He demonstrated how the assistive smart glasses could describe her surroundings, read text, send messages hands-free and even help her enjoy simple joys like recognising her dog in a video 🐶
Dale also spent time setting up her devices, integrating support apps, and sharing helpful resources so she could start using them right away. Because of his guidance, she said she's been able to experience newfound independence like navigating a supermarket and exploring her art class with confidence.
Dale said: "It's been a privilege to help. As a clinician, experiences like this are what make the job so rewarding and show how we can truly make a difference to someone's life."
Once again, a huge shout out to Dale because compassion, expertise and technology can make a real difference! 👏 💙
