Bramhall Osteopathic Practice

Bramhall Osteopathic Practice 5 Osteopaths plus Acupuncture, Women's Health Physiotherapy, Pilates, Podiatry, Chiropody, Hypnotherapy, Mindfulness, Therapeutic Massage & Reflexology

We offer a pathway to physical and mental well-being through osteopathy, acupuncture, women’s health physiotherapy, prescriptive pilates, chiropody/podiatry, remedial massage, aromatherapy, reflexology, hypnotherapy and mindfulness. Joanna Cheaney, a Registered Osteopath, opened the Practice in November 1989. It has since grown and the Practice now has a great team of 10 highly qualified and experienced Practitioners. This includes 5 Osteopaths and 5 other therapists. The osteopathic team, over the years, have enjoyed helping a huge variety of patients including babies; growing children with sprains/strains or developmental problems; adults with spinal or peripheral joint problems as a result of poor posture, stress or changing demands of pregnancy/occupation or hobbies and elderly patients with problems linked with arthritic, rheumatic or joint pain. Osteopathic treatment times are 45 minutes and this allows plenty of time for osteopathic work, in addition to advice on posture, exercise and stress management. The other practitioners provide various treatment options for the many physical and emotional problems people experience throughout their lives. The receptionists are all very friendly and professional and will be more than happy to answer any general enquiries, or will direct questions to the individual practitioners, who are always happy to discuss treatment options. There are 2-3 parking spaces at the front of the Practice and Bramhall Village main car park is only around the corner.

We're really pleased to welcome Fiona to the team 🌿

Fiona qualified as an osteopath in 2016 and brings a wealth of experience, both in clinical practice and in teaching. She uses a gentle, holistic approach—combining cranial and visceral techniques with movement and exercise to support the body as a whole.

Before becoming an osteopath, Fiona spent over 20 years in the health and fitness world, including cardiac rehab and even running a gymnastics programme in New Zealand, where she’s recently returned from after working as an osteopath on the North Island.

She’s passionate about helping people feel better in their bodies and brings a calm, thoughtful energy to her treatments.

If you’d like to book in with Fiona, she’s now available for appointments on Tuesday's from 9.15am.

Pregnancy related pelvic girdle pain & other conditions in pregnancy.
We have a digital form of this lovely booklet for patients recently updated and written by physiotherapists.
It clearly explains and reassures anyone struggling with aches and pains in pregnancy. Many women I speak to just want some guidance on how to manage during their pregnancy. They don't always know what is 'norrmal' Aches and pains are to be expected. But distressing and disabling pain is not.

This booklet explains what might contribute to pain and some self help tips. Often, this is all that is needed.
But if not, do ask your midwife to refer to physio. Or, consider an appointment with our pelvic health physio Dee Woodcock.

If you would like a digital copy of the full booklet just drop us a message as we can send it over to you 😊

A fun exercise to help your posture.!
I often give this evercise to help patients become more aware of their posture and improve their balance.
Why not have some fun with it? Simply stand with a book (or packet of mince pies - if you are feeling festive !) on your head.
Think of pushing up into the book - lifting and opening your posture.
Once you get good at this, try closing your eyes or balance on one leg at a time or walk backwards or forwards or even go up or down stairs.!! You can always challenge a friend or family member.
Enjoy.
Happy festive period.

Pregnancy and Acupuncture

Being pregnant can be one of the most wonderful and joyful times for a woman. But if painful conditions such as lower back, hip or pelvic girdle pain kick in, it can be more a case of limping through those last few weeks. And with pain medication options reduced, it can be difficult to know where to turn for help.

The good news, however, is that acupuncture is usually a very successful intervention for these pregnancy-related pain conditions. We offer simple and safe acupuncture treatments to women throughout pregnancy and see lots of success stories in the clinic. Sometimes one or two treatments can be enough to make a difference and sometimes weekly sessions over a longer period might be needed.

If you’d like to know more, please contact Fiona Bullock at the clinic for a free discussion.
