Anchor - Godiva Lodge in Coventry is celebrating after being rated Good by the Care Quality Commission.

Inspectors praised the home for its caring team, personalised support and the way colleagues promote residents’ independence and privacy. Residents also shared how happy and safe they feel living at Godiva Lodge.

Manager Ciara said:

"I’m really happy that the CQC has given us a Good rating. My team work incredibly hard to make sure Godiva Lodge care home is a great place for older people to live. Getting this kind of praise from the CQC is just the sort of recognition they deserve!"

Two colleagues from Anchor - Augusta Court in Chichester have been out supporting a local hospice, with a little help from their dogs 🐾💜

Magda and Nikki took their four-legged friends, Leo and Bruno, to the Woof for Wilf walk at Goodwood Motor Circuit. They joined others in the community to raise money for St Wilfred’s Hospice, despite the rainy weather.

They said it was a lovely way to give back to a hospice that has supported the home and its residents over the years.

Recently whilst undertaking works for Anchor at Howden Dene, Trident's 1st year painting and decorating apprentice, Danny Bamborough, noticed a well in the grounds that had fallen into disrepair.

The stately home originally built in 1890 and once owned by novelist Catherine Cookson, boasts a wide array of sprawling gardens and the well sits as an important centrepiece of the landscape.

Danny, having identified the need to restore the well to its former glory, lovingly prepared and painted the metalwork, taking great care to protect the historic stonework during the process.

We think you will agree he has done an amazing job and beautifully demonstrated the importance of taking pride in your work, as well as Trident's culture of added value and community impact.

We had a lovely morning at Union Court this morning, thanks to Carl from Equans for putting the plaque in place.

Union Court in Brampton Cumbria was once a hostel for the 100 children who were evacuated from the Basque region of Spain after the bombing of Guernica during the Spanish civil war. 4000 children were sent on the SS Habana in May 1937 to the UK arriving in Southampton.

The were housed in the old workhouse where Union Court is currently situated. They stayed there until 1939.

The plaque is to thank the people of Brampton for housing these children and the support they gave them.

Carmen is 95 years old pictured in the photos and the anniversary of their arrival is in May.

People travelled from as far as Sheffield today, a History Lecturer from Lancaster University attended, as well as one of the hostels teachers son, along with members of the local History Society.
