👟 Do your shoes actually fit your foot?

This image shows a real foot outline placed over an insole.
See the problem?

👉 The foot (with a bunion) is wider than the shoe.

When shoes are too narrow for your foot shape, they can:
• Increase bunion pain
• Cause pressure, rubbing and corns
• Make deformities worse over time

How to check if your shoes are right for your feet:

✔️ Remove the insole from your shoe
✔️ Stand on it and trace around your foot
✔️ If your foot spills over the edges — the shoe is too narrow
✔️ Pay extra attention around the bunion area

Shoes should accommodate your foot, not force your foot to adapt to them.

If you’re unsure what footwear is right for your foot shape, we can help.

👣 Corn or Verruca — do you know the difference?

They can look similar… but they’re not treated the same 👇

🟡 CORN
✔ Caused by pressure or friction
✔ Painful when pressed directly down
✔ Skin lines usually continue through it
✔ Often improves when pressure is removed

⚫ VERRUCA (Plantar wart)
✔ Caused by a virus (HPV)
✔ Often painful when squeezed sideways
✔ May have tiny black dots
✔ Can spread or linger for months

❌ Treating a verruca like a corn can damage healthy skin
❌ Ignoring a corn can make it deeper and more painful

At Brandon Podiatry, we:
✔ Confirm what the lesion actually is
✔ Treat it safely and appropriately
✔ Help relieve pain and prevent recurrence

Let’s talk autism and diabetes 🧩
We know many autistic people can often manage their diabetes very effectively, but autistic people may experience unique challenges with diabetes management, such as recognising low blood sugar, coping with sensory discomfort from medical devices, and navigating busy healthcare environments.
Greater awareness can help highlight how some healthcare settings may need to make changes to provide better, more equitable, support. As well as what families and friends can do to provide more support with managing diabetes.
Understanding neurodiversity makes diabetes more manageable and healthcare more accessible for everyone.
