👣 KinetiX™ Orthotics – Evidence-Based Foot Support 👣

At Brandon Podiatry, we’re proud to be an approved KinetiX™ prescriber, offering access to this evidence-based insole range designed by podiatrists to help manage a wide range of foot and lower-limb pain.

KinetiX™ orthotics can help with:
✔ Heel pain & plantar fasciitis
✔ Arch pain
✔ Forefoot & ball-of-foot pain
✔ Achilles tendon pain
✔ Ankle & knee pain
✔ Shin splints
✔ Big toe pain

🧠 Why KinetiX™?
KinetiX™ insoles are designed using biomechanical principles, helping to:
• Improve foot alignment
• Reduce abnormal loading
• Absorb shock
• Support the foot during everyday activities

Unlike “off-the-shelf” shop insoles, KinetiX™ orthotics are clinically selected and prescribed based on your symptoms, foot type and activity levels.

🩺 Prescribed by Us, Not Guesswork
As approved prescribers, we assess whether KinetiX™ is appropriate for you — and if so, which model and additions (such as heel raises or offloading) are needed.

If foot, ankle or lower-limb pain is affecting your daily life, ask us about KinetiX™ orthotics at your next appointment.

🎁 DAY 23: Why Foot Skin Dries Faster Than Anywhere Else 👣❄️

Ever notice your heels dry out faster than the rest of your skin — especially in winter?
You’re not imagining it!

Why feet dry out so easily:

👣 Feet don’t have oil glands
Unlike your face or hands, feet can’t naturally produce oils to keep skin soft.

🚶‍♀️ They take a lot of pressure
Walking and standing cause the skin to thicken and lose flexibility.

❄️ Cold weather + indoor heating
Both pull moisture out of the skin, making dryness worse.

👢 Closed shoes and boots
Increase pressure and reduce airflow, which slows skin recovery.

What dry foot skin can lead to:

✔ Hard skin and callus
✔ Cracked or sore heels
✔ Splits that can become painful or infected

✨ Podiatry tip:
Daily moisturising replaces what your feet can’t make themselves — but if hard skin or cracks keep returning, pressure usually needs addressing too.

Healthy skin is your first line of defence this winter. 💙👣

🎁 DAY 22: Your Feet Are Doing Overtime This Christmas 🎄👣

Fun fact:
Your feet work harder in December than at almost any other time of year.

From shopping trips to festive plans, they’re clocking up the miles — often in cold weather and tight winter shoes.

What we see most at Christmas:
✔ Heel pain
✔ Sore or ingrown toenails
✔ Corns rubbing
✔ Cracked heels
✔ Foot pain after long days out

🎄 Treat your feet like the hardworking elves they are.

🎁 DAY 21: Winter Toenail Care ❄️👣

Toenails grow much more slowly in winter, which means small problems can hang around longer if they’re not managed properly.

Why Winter Nail Care Matters:

❄️ Reduced circulation slows nail growth
🐢 Damage, thickening or infection takes longer to grow out
👢 Tight boots and thick socks increase nail pressure
➡️ This can lead to pain, ingrowing and thickened nails

✨ How to Look After Your Toenails in Winter:

✨ File nails regularly
Filing helps reduce thickness and pressure inside footwear.

✨ Don’t cut nails too short or down the sides
Cut straight across to reduce the risk of ingrown toenails.

✨ Keep nails clean and dry
Moisture encourages fungal infection — dry well after washing.

✨ Wear well-fitting footwear
Avoid pressure on the toes, especially in winter boots.

🩺 When to Get Your Nails Checked:

If you notice:
✔ Nails becoming thick, crumbly or discoloured
✔ Pain or tenderness at the nail edges
✔ Recurrent ingrowing
✔ Difficulty cutting your own nails

Early assessment can prevent ongoing discomfort and infection.

Healthy nails need year-round care — not just in summer. 💙👣

🎁 DAY 20: Foot Odour in Winter Boots 🧦👣

Not festive — but very common!
Foot odour often gets worse in winter, not better.

Why Winter Boots Make It Worse:

👢 Thick, insulated boots trap heat and moisture
🧦 Feet still sweat — even in cold weather
🌡 Sweat glands don’t switch off just because it’s winter
➡️ Warm, damp conditions allow bacteria to thrive, causing odour

✨ How to Reduce Foot Odour:

✔ Change socks daily (or more often if feet feel damp)
✔ Choose moisture-wicking socks (bamboo or technical fabrics)
✔ Use an antibacterial shoe spray regularly
✔ Rotate footwear to allow shoes to dry fully between wears
✔ Dry boots completely — never put damp boots back on

Important Podiatry Tip:

Persistent odour can sometimes be linked to excessive sweating, athlete’s foot, or skin infections — not just “sweaty feet”.

If odour isn’t improving despite good hygiene, it’s worth having your feet checked.

Winter boots keep us warm — but your feet still need airflow and care. 👣❄️
If you’re unsure what’s causing the problem, we’re happy to help.
