If you love to, or just want to develop more understanding, and control of yourself and your mind, I highly recommend this book.

Loved the chimp paradox, and according to the author, this is a much more detailed explanation of how to actually walk the path through the jungle, developing the habits and practices through 8 stages of change.

Some who have followed my journey this year will know I've started working for a Law firm and I LOVE it, but there's something else we've been building for over two years that lights me up!

On the first Monday of every month at 7pm UK time, I get to coach, connect and learn from the High Performance Growth Community and it's an important part of my life.

Tomorrow 7th of November, at 7pm, we are coaching the topic of 'Developing Consciousness' - it's such a beautiful topic that leads to presence, and the wonder that is a beautiful mind.

We've launched our firm wide speed coaching initiative, after a successful pilot scheme run by Darren Smith and Adam Wilson earlier in the year, and our first sessions start this week!

There are still a few slots available, so if you're faced with a challenge you'd like new perspective on, or a decision you'd like support with, go to the Shoosmiths internal L&D page, and book your session today.

Speed coaching is available every week, and our aim is provide speed coaching support to over 150 Shoosmiths employees before the end of the year, in addition to our existing coaching programmes.

One of the biggest challenges we all face is being fully present in the moments and roles of our lives.

If you’re human and you care about what you do, you’ll have felt this and likely feel this, I do if I’m not intentional.

So, one of the ways I strive to be excellent and present in all of my roles, is to establish and respect my shutdown routine.

1. Check all messages ✅

2. Reschedule what I planned to achieve today but didn’t get to ✅

3. Insert a buffer from work like go for a run, gym, cook a meal etc…✅

4. Turn off and remove all other distractions, like phones etc. so that I can be intentionally fully present in the next role, in this case trying to be an excellent husband and father. ✅

5. Verbally state the words ‘shutdown complete’ to mark the transition into a new role. ✅

If we don’t practice routines like this, we’re at the mercy of the ziegernik effect, as your mind likes to close things off.

Your energy - I focus on practices in the 7 pillars of breath, sleep, exercise and movement, nutrition and hydration, mindset, the cold and connection.

Your presence - paying attention to the moments, the people and the meaningful projects in your life.

Your intention - this is the superpower that brings your awareness to life imprisonment n purposeful action.

Your best - striving to bring the best of you to each day is a win win deal.
