Horse Guardian Drum: Mercury
Mercury is made from horse hide on a 14" Rosewood frame. The drum has been birthed as part of a triplet series on the Grand Water Trine.
- the hide was soaked in a sacred bath of Oak leaves, the 3 types of Artemesia and lilac Michaelmas daisies from the garden.
- The linen ribbon that wraps the central hoop was dyed in oak leaves, acorns and galls from the garden. The maker's mark is my left thumb print along with the symbol given to me during my meditations.
-the be**er is made from honey coloured suede to match the beautiful stripe on the drum face; stuffed with local Welsh black sheep fleece; decorated with repurposed rabbit fur and a wild goose feather. I believe the stick is Ash.
- the medicine bag contains apple pips from our apples for the horse spirit, clear quartz crystal chips, Mugwort flowers, and space to add your own sacred crystals and herbs.
The drum, be**er and medicine bag were all made by me in partnership with the spirits of the Black Mountains with materials either found during my walks, grown in my garden, or sourced sustainably. The animals were not killed for their fur or skin and are by products.
As a vegetarian, I am clear that I am using animal hides sourced ethically, and my goal is to honour the animal by making sacred tools to be used for healing purposes and connection to nature.
