World soil day…🌱🌳
This world soil day we wanted to highlight the important role our soil plays in the growth of Herongate Wood.

Our soil feeds the ever expanding forest we are creating. Our collection of native trees draw nutrients from the ground growing tall and strong to provide protection and habitat for wildlife.

Would you or a loved one like to rest forever under a canopy of trees?

A reflection of a life lived.

This unique funeral cortège of a fire engine hearse was chosen to reflect the life of a retired fireman. Who wanted his final journey to be a familiar one.

We offer a wide range of distinct hearses and vehicles to suit you or your loved ones preferences.

This procession was lead by our wonderful John Gillies

Winter is here! So there is no better time to prepare your plots with bulbs, so the flowers can bloom in the Spring. 🌷🌷

Most Spring flowering bulbs like to be planted at a depth 2-3 times the size of the bulb.

To Keep in Herongate Woods plant guidelines, please see our suggested Spring flowering bulbs:
- Snowdrops
- English Bluebells
- Tulips
- Daffodils

Contact us if you need any help with how to tend to you plot and advice on what to plant on your plot

Spring preparation…🌷

We spent our November gardening group session filling our pots and flower beds with bulbs.

We planted a mix of tulips and alliums which should make a fantastic display come spring time.

Thank you to our amazing volunteers who wrap up warm on chilly mornings to help us maintain Herongate Wood.

After a good dig around and tidy we headed inside for hot drinks and homemade freshly baked goods, this week we had
Jackie’s lemon and poppy seed cookies and pecan pie brownies
Bella’s assortment of chocolate cookies and
Sophie’s apple turnovers

Our last session of 2025 is on the 9th of December.
We will be getting the Christmas decorations up and tucking into some festive treats.
We hope to see you there!

Herongate Wood Woodland Cemetery was created to save a piece of green land from being built on for housing development.

Being located next to an already established woodland full of wildlife like deer, kites, barn owls, rabbits, mice and many more. It was the perfect location to expand and diversify their habitat not encroach upon it.

We believe wildlife and nature deserve a place to flourish.

Autumnal grounds …

Since opening our cemetery, back in 2003, our grounds team have lovingly planted more than 3,000 trees. 🌳

Each year, we continue this tradition by planting 50 to 60 trees with some on our grave plots and others as living memorials .🕊

A symbol of warmth and remembrance. 🧡

Orange chrysanthemums, carry meanings of admiration, love and a vibrant celebration of life.

They remind us that even in moments of farewell, the legacy of a loved one shines brightly. ✨

Grief and joy can sit side by side. 🤍

In moments of loss, it’s natural to feel waves of sadness but it’s also okay to smile at a memory, laugh at a story or feel warmth in the love that remains. 🕊

At times like these, joy isn’t a sign of forgetting. It’s a way of honouring a life lived and the impact they had on everyone around them.

We’re here to support you through every emotion, reminding you that it’s possible to grieve and still find moments of light. 💚

Reach out to our friendly team today, we would be more than happy to help. >>
