Still some spaces left for this lovely training πŸ’œ

And a little bit from Mary Beattie who I had the pleasure of learning from when I did my baby massage instructor training some years ago ✨

πŸ’œ Mary has been with the International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM) for 15 years. She is a very experienced Certified IAIM Trainer and instructor and Massage in Schools Practitioner. Her background is in young people's work - healthy relationships training and outreach education plus clinic management. She is a deeply practical, non-judgemental and supportive mentor to her students.

Mary says:

"The IAIM wraps it's arms around the parent and child relationship without interfering. I was really struck by this aspect of empowering and supporting parents and babies on their journey without getting in the way of their unique process. The humble nature of the instructor allows parents to find their own way with their baby and that really stood out to me. I feel honoured to have been trained by the IAIM.

I love the work of trainer and the work of an infant massage instructor. We have a lot of fun and I look forward to welcoming you onto my training.

For me this work brings hope and possibility. Important and joyous. And to help others find this in their paid work is just brilliant."

πŸ’œ The training will take place in Glasgow Sat 1st – Wed 5th Nov 2025 at The Wellbeing Centre, 31 Gavinton St, Glasgow G44 3EF.

πŸ’œ Please note, we are offering up to Β£200 off the course price for healthcare students studying midwifery, social work, nursing and early years.

If you're interested to join this wonderful and life affirming training, please contact me (or Mary) for more details.

✨ Would you like to become an infant massage instructor? ✨

πŸ’œ Mary Beattie, Certified IAIM Trainer and Instructor and Massage in Schools Practitioner, will be training in Glasgow Sat 1st – Wed 5th Nov 2025 at The Wellbeing Centre, 31 Gavinton St, Glasgow G44 3EF.

πŸ’œ The instructor training is wonderful and intensive. People who come on the training range in their backgrounds, from nurses, children's centre staff, yoga teachers, holistic therapists, paediatric doctors to parents who have experienced infant massage and would like to share it's magic.

πŸ’œ It's the desire to support parent and baby that is our main requirement for enrolment.

πŸ’œ People come worldwide to train with the International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM). You will learn how to teach parents to massage their babies in weekly sessions (60-90mins) over 5 weeks.

πŸ’œ It can greatly assist people in their current employment to help the people they work with.

πŸ’œ Our programme is the only infant massage course that resulted in positive change in parenting behaviour (Angela Underdown of Warwick University) and supports the management of postnatal depression in parents.

πŸ’œ All the elements of bonding are woven into the classes, and the inclusive nature ensures that parents can feel seen, heard and supported by both the instructor and the other parents.

πŸ’œ The cost for the IAIM infant massage instructor training depends on the package that you choose, but all include: 4 days 9am - 5pm intensive training with Mary, refreshments, 2 live parent classes, comprehensive training manual, a compendium of research papers, articles and journals put together by your trainers, the book β€˜Infant Massage' by IAIM founder Vimala McClure as well as ongoing support from Mary during your qualification process.

πŸ’œ We will be offering up to Β£200 off the price for healthcare students studying midwifery, social work, nursing and early years.

πŸ’œ A gentle note that we can only confirm a place with receipt of payment and we tend to fill our course well in advance.

If you would like to join, would like more information or have any questions, please get in touch.

To honour rainbow baby day this week 🌈

"A rainbow baby is a term for a baby born after a previous pregnancy or baby loss. The rainbow symbolises hope and light after a dark or difficult time."

I am beyond grateful to have my two rainbow babies 🌈 in my arms. I know not everyone is so fortunate 😒

One miscarriage before we had Willow was devastating for a number of reasons. I wondered if we'd ever be able to have a baby, I blamed myself and as a topic that's rarely spoken about, I barely told a soul 😒

Loss before Lok was equally devastating but different.. a similar dread was there that we might never have a sibling for Wills, I blamed myself (again) but was more clued up this time about what I could do to improve my chances and, fortunately, (if you look at it that way!) we had 3 miscarriages which qualified us for medical support (you're not entitled to support if you have less than 3 miscarriages and crazily they have to be consecutive!) 😒

In spite of our journey, I don't dwell on our losses because we have our beautiful wee family with us. They have definitely brought the hope and the light ✨

Rainbow baby day always makes me think of the women who aren't as lucky to have their babies in their arms, are still trying, are pregnant and filled with anxiety or who have recently gone through a devastating loss.

I see you and I know some of the pain and heartbreak you're going through β€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή

🀯 Overwhelm 🀯

I feel it. Not as often these days but I definitely feel it with the prospect of starting work again soon and the mum work life juggle struggle! 🀯

Don't get me wrong, despite my time off with the little people (which I'm loving btw) πŸ’œ I'm also so looking forward to getting back to work, seeing my clients and getting back to a little part of me again. I also find working with my clients quite therapeutic for myself too! πŸ™πŸΌ

For me, the overwhelm feeling doesn't last forever. It comes and goes and I'm getting better at being more aware of when it's happening now and doing things to help manage it.

The things that help me when I'm feeling overwhelmed are:

πŸ’œ Moving my body - this usually looks like a walk with the pram or mum and baby yoga (highly recommend YogaBellies Central Scotland : Yoga for all Women.)
πŸ’œ Getting outside and getting some fresh air - I find it really helps if I can combine this with a bit of movement too!
πŸ’œ Some me time - so tricky when you have wee ones and if I'm honest I don't get much these days but when I do have some time away I always come back feeling refreshed and a much nicer human to be around 😊 And up until recently I was having a monthly massage which I need to start again as it helps so much with my mind and body (even massage therapists get out of good habits sometimes! 🫣)
πŸ’œ Talking - what comes naturally to me is to bottle things up when I'm feeling overwhelmed 🫒 but I've found that it makes things so much worse to try and deal with it all on my own. This usually leads to an explosion of overwhelm and emotion! 😭 So I highly recommend talking things through with someone who can listen with compassion and empathy πŸ’œ

I really hope these tips help you too! πŸ™πŸΌ And if you're feeling overwhelmed, you can always drop me a wee message. I'm here for you!

Here's to a good, productive (and less overwhelmed!) week! πŸ’œ

With love,

It's been a while so I thought I'd say hello and reintroduce myself! πŸ‘‹

Here are 5 facts about me:

πŸ’œ I trained in massage therapy around 20 years ago when I was working in the corporate world and close to burn out 🀯 I wanted to explore something completely different and I'd always been interested in the relaxing benefits of massage πŸ’†β€β™€οΈ

πŸ’œ I live with my fiance Aron, 4 year old Willow and 7 & 1/2 month old Lok. Life is often chaotic these days but I wouldn't change it for the world 🌍

πŸ’œ I treat women only and I love all the chats I have with my clients - I love finding out about you and I'm so passionate about helping you take a little time out for yourself. Especially as a woman and a mum - I'm well aware of the 101 things we have in our heads at any one time! 🀯 We definitely NEED that chill time! πŸ™

πŸ’œ I enjoy yoga (these days it's mum and baby yoga and not much yoga is done but it's a lovely stretch and chat with other mums!) I also love getting out for a walk with the pram and I also recently got to circuits class with Lok! I don't do any of it for how it makes my body look anymore - it's more for the mental headspace it gives me, strength (to pick up my growing children!) and how it makes me feel πŸ’œ

πŸ’œ I'm also a Tropic ambassador which I'm so excited about! If you've not heard of Tropic before they are fabulous products that are good for your skin and body πŸ’š I started using them when my skin flared up after I had Willow (who knew postpartum hormonal skin was a thing?! πŸ™ˆ) I've been using them for myself since and use only Tropic products in my business!

So if you'd like to book a treatment with me (for when I start back in September) you can always book online or contact me directly (we can chat about Tropic products too if that's of interest)!

I've had such a lovely maternity leave with Lok. He's struggled with reflux and a possible cows milk allergy but, despite this, he's such a happy smiley wee guy and a joy to be around. He's 7 and a half months now and we're well into our weaning journey and he's just cut his first tooth today! 🦷 It's also been so lovely to spend special time with Willow, Aron and family too! πŸ₯°

I'm so looking forward to getting back to work and seeing my lovely clients again and for this exciting new chapter of my business! πŸ’œ

I look forward to seeing you soon!

With love,

Gemma x

Time is Precious

In my younger years, during a challenging time at work, I decided to look for a plan B that was far removed from the corporate environment and trained in massage therapy. Having practiced yoga for a number of years, I’d always been interested in the power of relaxation for the body and mind and I knew I wanted to help people going through similar stresses with their job or life situation. I subsequently stayed in corporate but always had a niggling feeling it wasn’t quite me. Some years later, I partnered with a health and wellness company as a side-line business and started to volunteer at Strathcarron Hospice as a massage therapist, helping people with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses through massage.

Doing both of these reminded me that I want to help people. So I decided to leave the corporate world and Precious Time Therapies was born. I realised that when I didn’t take time for myself, my physical and mental health deteriorated so my goal is to encourage everyone to take a little time out for themselves. Everyone’s time is precious, and I want to make sure that time spent at Precious Time Therapies is beneficial. We specialise in Swedish Remedial / Deep Tissue Massage, Hot Stones Massage, Aromatherapy Facials, HEARTS treatment, Indian Head Massage, Pregnancy Massage and Baby Massage classes.

Time is precious. So are you.
