Why is Post-operative Lymphatic Drainage for recovery important?

I just want to point out aftercare is just as important as the surgical procedure itself.

Lymphatic drainage plays a key role in aiding the body’s natural healing process after surgery.
Due to surgery your lymphatic system will become compromised that is why lymphatic drainage can help.
Lymphatic drainage reduces swelling and inflammation which in turn speeds up the healing process, it’s also been shown to have analgesic effects reducing pain levels.
This specialised treatment also helps prevent the build up of scar tissue by promoting fluid drainage and tissue regeneration.

It’s important to find a therapist that has proper knowledge of the lymphatic system, if in doubt look up MLD U.K. for a therapist near you.

Lymphatic massage with oils should not be performed post surgery, this is a different treatment from manual lymphatic drainage, nor should a full body pressotherapy machine if you’ve had lymph node removal or early stages of tummy tucks etc.
Your therapist should have the knowledge and be able to drain to different pathways to functioning lymph nodes.
