Your Numbers the Pressure off.
A blood pressure test checks if your blood pressure is healthy, or if it's high or low.
All adults over 40 years old are advised to have their blood pressure checked at least every 5 years.
Getting your blood pressure checked is easy, quick and could save your life.
You can get your blood pressure tested at a number of places, including:
• at some pharmacies
• as part of your NHS Health Check
• in some workplaces
• at your GP surgery
You can also check your blood pressure yourself with a home blood pressure monitor and these are available for free in libraries across Somerset. Find out more. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/blood-pressure-test/
Some smart watches/fitbits also measure Blood Pressure. Make sure you send in your blood pressure to us so we can add it to your record.

Find out why a blood pressure test is important, how it’s done and what your blood pressure reading might mean.

We are supporting the Department of Health and Social Care and the
NHS on a new campaign encouraging all adults to take the Healthy
Choices Quiz. This health and wellbeing quiz aims to empower adults to
take control of their health by making small changes day to day.
Taking around 5 minutes to complete, the quiz asks a series of
questions about your lifestyle. You will then receive an overall score
out of 10 and advice on how you are doing in each area. You’ll also
receive personalised recommendations and a wealth of NHS resources
including free apps to help you act where it’s most needed.

Cervical screening is one of the best ways to protect yourself from cervical cancer. It checks the health of your cervix and helps find any abnormal changes before they can turn into cancer. These can then be treated. If you are overdue your smear test, please call us to get yours booked now.
Listen to the attached on Spotify. Local GP Dr Sophie Wood takes us through cervical screening, what to expect, and how to stay comfortable and relaxed.

Period Delay Medication Update

From 1st November, Cranleigh Gardens will no longer be offering a period delay service (e.g. prescriptions for norethisterone and medroxyprogesterone/provera).

This decision has been made due to:

Ongoing pressures on NHS services,
The availability of safe and convenient alternatives through online pharmacies and over-the-counter options, and
This decision is supported by the ICB as they consider medication for this purpose to be a self care item and not for NHS prescription.

Patients who wish to delay their period can now access this medication directly from pharmacies or reputable online services, without the need for a GP appointment or NHS prescription.

We appreciate your understanding as we focus our NHS resources on essential medical care and priority health needs.
