Daniel recently visited Coates Willow to explore the Jungle Book sculptures, accompanied by Sharon from Bridgwater Outreach, while community groups have been closed over the Easter period.

He really enjoyed the outing, taking his time to look at each sculpture. As someone who loves animals, Daniel was especially delighted by the elephant it was his clear favourite.🐘🌟

🌟 National Supported Internship Day 2026 🌟

We had such a brilliant time celebrating everything that makes Supported Internships so special. Here’s a little look at what some of our internship groups got up to…

🧡 Street Internship
Our Street interns spent the day out and about in Glastonbury and Street – chatting with local businesses, spreading the word about Supported Internships, and having tons of fun along the way!

🏥 YDH Internship
Over at YDH, the team had a great day engaging with staff and visitors around the hospital. They set up an information-collection competition, complete with a very tempting prize…

Anyone who left their contact details to learn more about Supported Internships was entered into a draw to win:

✨ We were delighted to welcome local MP Adam Dance - MP for Yeovil and South Somerset to our Supported Internship programme at Leonardo Company / Kuehne & Nagel

During his visit, Adam saw first-hand how our interns are fully embedded within the workplace—and how managers and mentors genuinely value the skills, dedication, and fresh perspectives they bring.

He spent time with Christian and Oliver, who are currently thriving in their placements, as well as Callum and Matthew, who have both successfully secured employment directly through the programme. Their achievements demonstrate the incredible things young people can accomplish when they’re given the right opportunities and support.

Leonardo / Kuehne+Nagel have embraced the programme wholeheartedly. With the combined support of Discovery’s dedicated job coaches and tutors from Yeovil College, interns are building confidence, independence, and work-ready skills that are helping them excel in their roles.

This is why proposed government plans to reduce this vital funding—particularly funding for job coaching—are so concerning. Without this essential support, interns risk losing the guidance they need at the most crucial point in their journey, just as they’re preparing to secure meaningful, long-term employment.

Sam joined the WE Work for Everyone BANES programme last year, and with support from his navigator, Lea‑Ann, he quickly began building his confidence, skills, and career direction.

His hard work paid off when he secured a placement with Selwood Housing, where he’s become a valued member of the lettings team. From supporting admin tasks to working with teams across the organisation, Sam has made a real impact.

Selwood Housing described him as enthusiastic, dedicated, and a brilliant colleague — praise he has truly earned.

🌟 Huge congratulations to John! 🌟

John has been an absolute star throughout his Leonardo Internship. Friendly, hardworking, and always proactive, it was clear from day one that he’d reach his goal of paid employment in no time.

When a role came up at Tesco as an Order Picker, John teamed up with his Job Coach, Andrew, to prepare thoroughly for the interview — and his effort paid off. He was offered the job!

Two weeks in, John is thriving. He’s thrown himself into the role with his trademark enthusiasm, quickly learned the layout of the store, mastered the job, and settled brilliantly into the team. His manager has already shared how well he’s doing.

A fantastic example of setting a goal, using the support available, and achieving great things.

Well done, John — we’re all so proud of you! 💚
