At Discovery, we help make workplaces more inclusive in practical, everyday ways. We support disabled and neurodivergent people into work and partner with employers who want to create real change — starting with small adjustments, better conversations, and a willingness to learn.

😄 We're celebrating another 'good' CQC rating! Northmead House short breaks service was awarded good in all 5 categories - safe, caring, responsive, effective and well-led.

"Our short breaks service is designed to provide people with safe, enjoyable visits, while giving families valuable time to rest and recharge. This rating recognises the dedication of our team and the high -quality support they receive, which is delivered with compassion and dignity." Kirsty Mabley, Northmead House Registered Locality Manager

We're delighted that inspectors could see that families trust our dedicated and caring colleagues and the people we support are happy and safe. We're proud to provide such a vital service and a chance for new experiences to get more from life.

What a fantastic team, congratulations Northmead! 🍾🥂

At Discovery, we’re doing our best to help make workplaces more inclusive, not just in theory, but in everyday, practical ways.

We support disabled and neurodivergent people into work, and we work alongside employers who want to make real change. We don’t believe inclusion needs perfect language or big policy. Often, it starts with small adjustments, better conversations, and a willingness to learn.

That’s why we’re running another free online taster session:

✅ Inclusive Employment in Action (FREE)
🗓️ 20 February | 12:00–13:00 (GMT)
💻 Online (Teams)

In one friendly hour, our lived-experience experts and Supported Employment practitioners will share:

Simple tips for inclusive communication
Real examples of reasonable adjustments that work
A clearer understanding of responsibilities under the Equality Act 2010
Space to ask questions and talk challenges (no judgement, no jargon)

Our last session was really active, and attendees shared feedback like:
💬 “Great information and practical examples I can immediately use.”
💬 “Helpful to focus on barriers and reasonable adjustments, rather than feeling we need all the answers.”
💬 “So helpful for us to create a more inclusive environment at our charity.”
💬 “Very useful information and great ideas.”

If your organisation wants to build a workplace where more people can do their best work, we’d love you to join us via the following link https://www.eventbrite.com/e/inclusive-employment-in-action-tickets-1980707264748

✨📣 A Shining Update from BCP Supported Intern, Aidan! ✨

Aidan has been absolutely loving his rotation at The Point Café in Bournemouth! 💚

He has really impressed the team and customers with his delicious blondies, which have quickly become a firm favourite.

He has also mastered the art of making a mean oat‑milk mocha latte ☕, and his barista skills are getting better every day.

Aidan is feeling proud, grateful, and excited to keep building his confidence and skills throughout his internship ✨

📣 Animal Care Placement Wanted – Until Easter

Adam currently has his Level 2 in Animal Care and is looking for a placement where he can continue building his skills and put his existing knowledge into practice.💚

He’s a deeply caring, dedicated individual with a genuine passion for animals and their welfare. Adam thrives in hands‑on environments and would love the opportunity to support a local animal shelter, rescue, farm, or animal‑care organisation.

📍 Location: Street / Shepton Mallet / surrounding areas

If you know of any placements, volunteer opportunities, or organisations that might be able to offer him some experience, please get in touch. Your support could make a huge difference to his learning journey.🌟
