🥞 Pancake Day at St Mary’s Chanterlands! 🥞

We couldn’t let Pancake Day pass by without a celebration! 🎉

Our Activity Lead, Michelle, set up a pancake café in the café bar, where residents gathered to enjoy a tasty treat. Our student helpers, Daniel and Charlie, made sure everyone had their tea and coffee while settling in.

Residents chose from a delicious array of toppings:
✨ Sugar & Lemon
✨ Golden Syrup
✨ Chocolate, strawberries & squirty cream

The café bar was buzzing with excitement as Michelle whipped up pancakes to order, and everyone had a fantastic time celebrating together. 🥞💖

💘 Love & Laughter at Hutton Manor Care Home! 💘

We’ve been celebrating all things Valentine’s with a full week of activities themed around love and friendship here at Hutton Manor.

❤️ Monday kicked things off with Valentine’s themed bingo, where residents won flowers and chocolates, followed by writing heartfelt messages to their loved ones.

🎶 Tuesday brought our weekly quiz and “Name That Tune,” with residents putting their musical knowledge to the test by guessing classic love songs. In the afternoon, we enjoyed a Valentine’s photo shoot with our special themed frame.

✂️ Wednesday was all about creativity, as residents made gorgeous handmade Valentine’s cards.

💃 Thursday we held our annual Valentine’s Ball with the amazing singer Amanda! Residents sang along, waved props while Amanda performed her wonderful Valentine’s show. There was plenty of dancing and smiles all around.

🕺 Friday finished our week of celebrations with a fun and friendship dance class, which was a joyful way to celebrate companionship before the big day itself.

On Valentine’s Day, we enjoyed a quiete afternoon get-together with cakes and refreshments, giving residents the opportunity to spend quality time with their loved ones in a relaxed and cosy setting. 🍰☕

We’ve also welcomed family members, visitors, and even our local councillor this week, and they all commented on how welcoming and friendly the home feels…

We think that’s because love is truly in the air at Hutton Manor! 💖

💖 Love is in the air at St Mary's Chanterlands Care Home 💖

In the run up to Valentine’s Day, Michelle spent some lovely 1:1 time with our residents enjoying a little activity called “Jar of Hearts.” 💞

In the spirit of the season, we’ve been chatting all about the things we love. Michelle prepared lots of red hearts and asked each resident a simple question: What, where, or who do you love? 💗

The answers were as wonderful and varied as you can imagine! From treasured family members and fond holiday destinations, to favourite foods, sweet treats, and special memories. Michelle has created a stunning display in our entrance for everyone to enjoy.

Love has truly been all around St Mary’s Chanterlands as we’ve counted down to Valentine’s Day! We’ve enjoyed crafts, cookie decorating, reminiscence sessions, Valentine’s bingo, a Valentine’s party with dancing, and even a posh Valentine’s meal. 💌❣

🎉🏆 Competition Winners! 🏆🎉

We’re over the moon to announce that Lincoln Manor Care Home has been crowned winners of St Mary’s January Competition for ‘The Most Creative New Year’s Resolutions’!🌙

Their entry showcased the creativity and teamwork of both staff and residents. One resident dreamed of a trip to the moon. This inspired arts and crafts sessions to create a space shuttle and helmet, complete with a moon backdrop. Residents and staff landed on the moon together, and even met a few alien visitors! 👽🚀

Other resolutions included adding a pool table to start their games room, and taking walks along the local river to enjoy the wildlife whenever the weather allowed.🎱🦆

Lincoln Manor’s inventive approach and community spirit made them January's winner! We loved seeing everyone’s submissions, and well done to all who participated! ✨

💝 Sharing the Love at Shipley Manor Care Home 💝

Our home was filled with creativity, kindness and lots of love as residents enjoyed a wonderful Valentine’s craft session! It was lovely to see everyone smiling and getting creative. ❤

One of the most touching moments was creating our Valentine’s Thank You Board. A special space where residents shared messages of appreciation for our amazing carers. The board is now full of heartfelt words and photos, celebrating the strong bonds within our home. 🥰

💗✨ What We’ve Been Up To at St Mary’s Care Centre ✨💗

Last Tuesday, our residents spent the afternoon making beautiful Valentine’s cards for partners and family members. We ended the afternoon with Valentine’s brownies and hot drinks, which were the perfect treat! 🍫☕

On Wednesday, we got moving with chair exercises in the lounge, copying the TV and even adding our own dance routines. We also enjoyed calming breathing activities, a fun quiz with refreshments, and a special evening listening to Tony and Alison practising on the saxophone ahead of Valentine’s Day, before continuing with our book club. 🎷📖

On Friday, we enjoyed a lovely morning at Morrisons’ Hull 4 Heroes coffee morning, complete with hot drinks, biscuits and jam-and-cream scones. In the afternoon, we visited Headway at the Danish Church for the first time, where we enjoyed homemade soup, bingo, and great company.❤
