🎉 EXCITING NEWS – PLEASE WELCOME OUR NEW GP! 🎉

We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Dr Michael Robinson to the practice 👨‍⚕️✨

Dr Robinson is a locally born GP who’s returning to serve the community he knows so well 🏡💙 He brings a special interest in dermatology 🧴🔬 and a wealth of experience from working extensively as an Out of Hours GP 🚑 — meaning calm decision-making, broad clinical insight, and confidence with everything from everyday problems to urgent concerns.

We’re also very pleased to say that this means we now have a male GP back in the surgery 🙌
For many patients, having a choice of GP matters — whether for personal comfort, cultural reasons, or specific health concerns. Choice supports openness, trust, and better care, and we’re proud to be able to offer that again ✅

📞 Improving Your Experience When Calling the Surgery

When you phone us on 01384 566651, you’ll now notice a smoother, more patient-friendly system.

At the very start of the call, you’ll hear our Check & Cancel option. This allows you to quickly confirm your next appointment and cancel it if you can’t attend — helping us keep appointments flowing and reducing wasted slots.

If you do need to speak to the team, our phone queue is now smarter. After 2 minutes of waiting, or if there are more than 6 callers ahead of you, you’ll be offered a call-back. This keeps your place in the queue and the system will ring you automatically once you reach the front. No need to stay on the line. ⏳➡️📲

We’re also pleased to confirm that our patient registration system is open to everyone who wishes to register with us. 🩺✨

Thank you for your patience and for working with us to improve access for all.

📢 Emergency contraception is now FREE from pharmacies across England

You can now access the emergency contraceptive pill directly from a pharmacist without an appointment or prescription — and it’s completely free of charge. ✅

Until now, prices varied (some pharmacies charged up to £30 💷), so this change helps remove barriers and improves access for everyone.

You can also get emergency contraception through:
🏥 Sexual health clinics
🩺 GP practices
💻 Online services

🌀 The copper coil (IUD) is also available for free through sexual health clinics. It can be used as emergency contraception and provides long-term protection once fitted.

🎀 Breast Screening Saves Lives – Book Your Mammogram 🎀

Breast cancer affects thousands of women and some men every year. The earlier it’s found, the better the outcomes. That’s why the NHS breast screening programme (mammogram) is so important.

👉 If you’re aged 50–71, you’ll be invited every 3 years.
👉 Over 71? You can still self-refer.
👉 Younger but high-risk? Speak to your GP.

Why it matters:
• Finds cancers before you can see or feel them
• Saves around 1,300 lives a year in the UK
• Treatment is simpler and more successful when caught early

What happens:
• Appointment takes about 20 minutes
• 2 X-rays of each breast
• Quick, safe, done by skilled female radiographers
