There is a common misconception that only certain poses (asana) count as ‘yoga’’

But the truth is that asana is only a small part of this thing we all call Yoga. But seeing as we’re talking about asana let’s talk about it!

The first slide is yoga. It is a study of strength, focus, and the discipline required to shift your perspective. But the second slide is also yoga. It is the practice of openness, of taking up space, and of simply being present in your own skin.

We often hear the idea that resting in Child’s Pose is ‘just a break’ or that a handstand is ‘just for show’. In reality, the yoga isn’t found in the complexity of the shape, but in the quality of your attention.

Whether you are upside down or seated quietly on your mat, if you are breathing with intention and listening to your body’s needs, you are doing the work.

At our studio, we value the full spectrum of movement. We aren’t interested in ‘perfect’ poses; we are interested in helping you find your natural rhythm, your state of flow.

Whether you want to sweat, stretch, or simply find a moment of stillness by the sea, you are welcome here (🔗in bio to book a class)

Meet (some of) the team responsible for your daily savasana.

(Flow State exists because of a host of talented people behind the scenes, so here’s a snapshot of the four of us in ‘management’)

As it turns out, we’ve been preparing for a life of embodied movement and seaside “flow” for decades—mostly by practising our leadership faces and auditing toy cupboards.

Swipe through to see the team in their original forms: Deanne aggressively multitasking creative projects, Calli contemplating how she can get from a to b without gravity, and Fran colour-coding her snacks. And Lucy, who’s caretaking the studio manager role while Fran’s on an adventure of her own.

We created Flow State as a progressive space for people to move, breathe, and feel. We like to think we’re slightly more qualified now than we were in these photos, though the levels of professionalism haven’t actually changed that much 🤷🏽‍♀️

Come as you are. We’ve seen worse (mostly in our own family photo

So, looks the most like their baby pic?

The calendar says March, but the earth says New Year.

The Spring Equinox is the tipping point. It’s the moment we move from the internal darkness of winter into the expansive light of Spring. It is the ultimate time to plant seeds, both in the soil and in ourselves.

Join Calli, Georgie, and Jas for a journey of:

✨ Embodied Movement to get into the body & release stuck patterns.
✨ Breath & Journaling to create space for new potential.
✨ Kirtan & Mantra to awaken the heart and celebrate being human in this crazy, messy world.

This is more than a workshop; it’s a community reclamation of body, heart, and soul. It’s the sacred practice of coming together in community and sharing voices and remembering our shared humanity.

We believe movement should be accessible. Choose the tier that works for you:

• Accessible: £15
• General: £20
• Pay it Forward: £25

How do we stay embodied in a time of collective grief & overwhelm?

A big misconception is that being embodied means being calm.
Which isn’t the case.

Being embodied means to stay in contact with sensation without dissociating.

Being Embodied means being in the truth of what is present both personally & collectively.

We can be Embodied in rage, grief and anger; so if you are feeling these things right now- know that you are having a normal response to witnessing an overwhelming amount of grief and injustice:

Being embodied is about being able to feel what’s there without abandoning ourselves.

But when it gets too much, when there is more than we are able to process in real time, we become flooded and shut down/dissociate.

Small ways we can stay in our body when it all gets too much:

1. Feel your Feet - overwhelm pulls us into our heads - let your awareness come back to the feet. Push them into the ground. Wiggle your toes. Notice the sensation of your socks/shoes the floor.
2. Lengthen your exhale - make ha and hum sounds. Flutter the lips. Massage your jaw. Breathe it out. When we are overwhelmed or in shock we can get stuck on an inhale - exhale as fully as you can.
3. Cover your eyes with your palms. Let your visual system rest and reset. We see more in a day than we would have in a lifetime once.

When you are in your body, you are in your truth & power and much less easy to control.

Embodiment is Resistance.

How do you build a great yoga teacher? You give them a safe place to find their voice.

We are so proud of our longstanding Community Classes. But what are they?!

These sessions are led by the fresh graduates of Calli’s teacher training. These teachers have spent months diving deep into anatomy, somatics, and the art of holding space. Now, they are ready to share that magic with you.

This is a beautiful loop of support.

✨ For them: Vital in-studio experience to refine their unique teaching style.

✨ For you: Explorative, playful, and embodied flows at a lower community price point of £5

Expect fresh energy, creative sequencing, and the same Flow State ethos you know and love. Come support the next generation of teachers as they take the seat of the teacher.
