We wish to inform patients that Dr Ebbage has decided to leave Links Road Surgery and pursue a new future outside of General Practice. We are sure that patients will join us in wishing Dr Ebbage well for the future, and to thank her for her outstanding contribution to the work of the Surgery over many years. We are making plans to ensure that all patients continue to receive the high standard of care that they have come to expect. To this end, we are at an advanced stage of recruiting a new permanent GP. And until this person is appointed, from 4th December, we have secured the services of a very experienced, albeit temporary, GP to care for Dr Ebbage's patients. Please can we ask patients not to contact the surgery regarding these changes as to do so could overwhelm our phone lines, and our staff. Patients who wish to do so can send Dr Ebbage a personal letter of thanks, or if you are digitally able, we have started a “Thankbox” which is a virtual "Thank You book". Messages can be left here;

The increase in severe colds and coughs amongst ADULTS is overwhelming local GP services. Coughs/colds are usually self-limiting and symptoms can last for 2 weeks; antibiotics have no effect and carry a risk of side effects. If self-care is not sufficient, your community pharmacist should be your FIRST point of contact. Please see the links attached about how long it can last and when to contact your GP.

Over the last couple of weeks, a number of children have sadly died after contracting Group A streptococcal (GAS) infection – often called ‘Strep A’.

JOB TITLE: PRESCRIPTION ADMINISTRATOR
HOURS: 30 – 37.5 P/Wk
BASE: West Hove
We are looking to add an additional member to our established prescribing team. This role will ideally suit someone with previous experience as a Pharmacy dispenser or a similar role, as a working knowledge of medications processing would be very beneficial.

The team remotely currently processes all the Repeat Prescriptions for 2 GP surgeries in West Hove from request to readiness for signing by the GPs. You will work to laid down processes and within agreed safe protocols ensuring that where agreed all checks have been carried out and records updated for final approval by the GPs.
Full training & support will be given, and you will be supported by existing team members, our Pharmacists and GPs. As we are developing our prescribing hub this role offers good potential for future progression for the right candidate.

Following the announced "Living with Covid" plans, we would like to draw patients' attention to the Infection Protection and Control measures which remain in force in GP Surgeries and other healthcare settings. There are no immediate changes to the requirements for staff, patients, and visitors to wear a mask/face-covering in healthcare settings. The consistent application of these measures, alongside the rollout of the vaccine programme remains the most effective defense against the entry and spread of COVID-19 in healthcare settings, and to continue to ensure that we continue to have the capacity to provide high-quality care.

During December we will do as much as we can to support the Covid booster effort. Some of our clinical staff will be re-deployed to covid vaccination centres which will lead to reduced clinical capacity for routine healthcare. We wish to reassure patients that we will maintain cover for urgent treatment and advice and for critical care such as cancer risk referrals. We will continue to provide patients with continuous care, such as wound care or chronic illness management, where this is needed. We may ask some patients to defer some routine or non-urgent requests until the New Year, or we may redirect some patients to other services where clinically appropriate to do so.
