At our working lunch for Futures Friday, we were joined by Olly Carter from Kingsway Care, a local independent home-care provider that supports older and disabled adults to live independently.

Olly spoke to our students about Kingsway Care's work and the diverse career opportunities within the social care sector, giving them a chance to explore different professions and see how their own skills and interests could shape their future careers.

🎂 Happy Birthday, Biddy! 🎂
We’re wishing a very happy birthday to our lovely client Biddy, born in 1927 — and still full of wit, warmth, and sparkle! It’s been our joy to support her to live independently at home for the past three years.

Last week, Biddy surprised us with this five-star review on Homecare.co.uk:
“I found everyone at Kingsway is kind and willing to help me. I started with them nearly three years ago after I broke my hip. I also like little trips we are given, for example the canal cruise. They do arrange some nice things!”

Our team adore their visits with Biddy, from garden walks and “plant chats” and stress-relieving card games. She keeps us all smiling! Here’s to many more happy birthdays and shared laughs together, Biddy.💛 (the delicious birthday cake was home-made with love by our star baker, Wayne)

Kingsway Care's Field Care Supervisor, Kellie, shared this delightfully merry snapshot of herself, Caregiver Jodie, and client Pat, fully embracing the festive vibes at Mayberry Garden Centre yesterday.

Kellie confessed she could have blown her budget on all those dazzling Christmas decorations. Although Pat thought her enthusiasm was a tad over the top. Today, Kellie’s enjoying a well-earned day off and said she's going to put up her Christmas tree! 🎄

I would like to express our sincere gratitude to Kingsway Care for the exceptional support they have provided for my 89-year-old mother, Betty. From the moment the care package began 18 months ago, the change in her happiness and health has been remarkable.

Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning, Betty is visited by one of her two carers, Laura and Vicky, and those visits have become a highlight of her week. Laura and Vicky arrive punctually, kindly, and with a warmth that immediately puts her at ease. They take time to listen—about her past, her interests, the little things that matter to her—and build their visits around her preferences and routines.

Since the care began, Betty is more engaged and sociable. The companionship aspect has boosted her mood significantly—she laughs more, talks more, and looks forward to the visits. Her overall health has stabilised. With consistent morning visits, we’ve seen fewer minor health crises and a smoother daily rhythm.

Our family’s peace of mind has grown. Knowing that Laura and Vicky are there regularly, treating Betty with respect and dignity, means we can step back and trust the process—without worrying behind the scenes. "We spent a fair amount of time looking for good carers for our 95-year-old aunt (she's older than that now!) and Kingsway Care stood out for their empathy and professionalism even before we started using them.

Our aunt lives in her own home and has 3 visits per day from carers. She greatly enjoys their company and is happy to give them all sorts of tasks, but mostly she just loves the conversations. (And even if she is rather hard-of-hearing - she says they are very patient.)

They are personable, friendly, efficient and always punctual.
They sometimes take her to doctor's appointments, or on other trips (including some for fun).
She is very happy - and that means we all are.

In this 90-second video, Sue shares what inspired her to join Kingsway Care and why she’s never looked back!

Besides visiting clients in their own homes to support them with their daily routines, Sue recently joined the office team as a client coordinator. This involves managing healthcare appointments and making sure repeat prescriptions are delivered on time. Plus spotting any little extras that could improve the physical and mental wellbeing of our clients. 💛
