Strong quads need movement 🦵
If your knees don’t bend well, your quads don’t get loaded — and that matters.
Bending the knee is how we build strength, control, and confidence for walking, stairs, squats and everyday life.
No bend = no load.

Move the joint, let the muscles respond.

A lovely testimonial from a recent client ❤️

Often with my work, one of the biggest benefits is helping all the other information and work you’ve already done finally make sense.

Whether that’s from doctors or specialists, physios or chiropractors — you may have been told what’s going on, but not fully understood why, or why it keeps coming back. By looking at your alignment and movement together, noticing the patterns you have and what might be missing, and explaining it in simple, everyday language, things can start to click.

And when you understand what’s happening in your body, awareness grows — and that’s when change becomes much easier.

Movement Monday 🦴

The pelvis is the centre of your body — connecting your upper and lower half and moving in all three planes of motion.

When it’s stacked and moving well, everything above and below benefits.

In this post: where it is + how it moves.

Client Results ✨ (just 30 minutes apart)

Before our session, I reviewed her photos, gait video, and consultation notes. One pattern stood out straight away: she rarely committed her weight to her right foot, keeping her centre of mass shifted left, alongside a rotated and shifted ribcage.
In-person assessments confirmed it.

Nothing obvious showed up in her injury history… until we talked about daily habits. When she mentioned always carrying her children on her right hip, everything clicked. To stay upright, her body had adapted by shifting weight left and rotating towards them.

After one targeted movement session, you can already see her weight shifting back towards the right and her body becoming more balanced.
A powerful reminder that small, repeated habits shape the body — and how quickly things can change with the right movement.

⚙️ Your body moves like a system of cogs ⚙️

The head, ribcage, and pelvis are designed to move together — but not in the same direction. Just like cogs in a clock, if they all try to turn the same way, nothing moves.

If the pelvis and head tilt or rotate one way, the ribcage needs to move the other way for balance and smooth movement. When one area can’t move, the others compensate — and that’s often where strain, tension, or pain shows up.

This is why focusing on just one “problem area” rarely works long term.
Movement is shared. Load is shared. Compensation is shared.

We use these opposing cog movements as practices in Anatomy in Motion, often with the help of a wall or the floor, to get the body back to its natural timing.

Ease returns when all the cogs can turn, at the right time, in the right direction.

Your obliques aren’t just “core muscles” — they respond to how your ribcage and pelvis move.

As the ribs and pelvis tilt, rotate or side-bend, the obliques lengthen and shorten to support that movement.
When those areas stop moving well, the obliques stop doing their job — and other areas often pick up the slack.

Want to understand how to get them working with your body, not against it?

5 things that could be causing your pain… and none of them are the body “breaking”!

1️⃣ Stress - When you're stressed your nervous system shifts into protection mode, making pain louder and movement harder.
2️⃣ Poor sleep - Without enough sleep your body can’t repair properly, so everything feels tighter, heavier and more sensitive.
3️⃣ Shallow breathing - Signals danger to your nervous system, increasing pain sensitivity.
4️⃣ Grief — Can increase cortisol, adrenaline and inflammation, leading to increased pain levels.
5️⃣ Not moving enough - Lack of movement = lack of circulation → more tension, less ease.

Pain isn’t always about posture, injury or “getting older”.
Often it’s your nervous system asking for support.

If you want to understand what your body is trying to tell you — and learn how aligned movement can calm, rebalance and reduce pain — join me for a 1:1 session or my next workshop.

Desk workers, this one’s for you 🧑‍💻

You’ve probably thought about slouching at your desk… but have you ever noticed how keeping your hand on the mouse all day can rotate your whole body?

Over time, you can get stuck in that pattern.

Try this simple stretch to unwind that rotation and free up your upper body 🙌

Your head has more impact on your neck than you might think!

Many of us move from just one vertebra, or let our head drift forward, which can lead to stiffness, tension, and discomfort.

Want to see how to move your neck safely, get your head stacked over your body, and ease that tension? Head over to my YouTube channel for the full video with practical tips!

The photo that started it all...

I posted this to my Facebook 8 years ago today. I was lying in bed, having taken the day off work, in agony. My back pain at is worst. I'd just been to the doctors and they'd prescribed me Naproxen and Diazepam, on top of co-codamol which I'd already been taking daily.

I felt wiped out, physically, mentally and emotionally. I remember getting back from the doctors and crying huge sobs, having a long nap and then just lying in bed because moving hurt too much. My gorgeous Pedro laid on me, making sure I was OK.

This started the journey. First came referrals, physio, x-ray, MRI and a whole host of doctors and specialists appointments. Add to that hours of massage, acupuncture, osteopathy, myofascial release and other treatments that I was paying for privately.

It was then in April 2020 that I was told as long as I stayed on painkillers I wouldn't be in pain. I love the NHS and we are so lucky to have it, but seriously? Pain killers daily for the rest of my life? I just couldn't accept that... I was only 37!

So, on went my journey. Connecting the dots, realising that actually there was an issue structurally within my body but that it wasn't something the doctors could fix. I needed movement, I needed alignment... and luckily I found it. The rest, as they say, is history!

So many people I work with have tried a multitude of things and it's always helped a bit (after all, something wouldn't still be available if it didn't help someone) but they're still in pain or struggling with movement. Then they work with me and find "the missing piece" or "the thing that makes everything else make sense". They learn about their body, what is actually happening, and finally understand why that area hurts, why that joint got worn out or why they don't feel stable on their feet.

If you're in chronic pain please don't think it's inevitable. Don't believe there is nothing you can do or that you'll be like that for ever. You CAN change it! You just need to understand what's happening in your body and put in a bit of work to get it back to its optimal state.

I'm here 8 years later pain free, something I once believed would never happen!

The outtakes are real! 🤣

Ever wondered how I get lovely polished Movement Monday reels? Well it usually takes about 100 attempts or more, then a load of chopping and editing too.
Here's a screenshot of just some of the deleted clips that didn't make the cut 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣

Is it just me or does everyone go through this process?!
