Winter often brings more sombre times of reflection, triggers like Armistice Day, Christmas adverts or just the shorter days can offer reminders of grief and loss. Stresses more easily forgotten in warmer times might feel harder to shift and have you reaching for comfort food or just retreating into yourself.
If you would like to heal and feel lighter, the modern therapy techniques I use offer a new, less painful way of dealing with your triggers. I also use targeted nutritional protocols to help with sleep, anxiety, obsessional worrying and depression.

Whether you have had therapy before or are thinking that now is the time to begin, Therapy for Change offers a free initial consultation to discuss how I work and of course your particular needs.

Vitamins as Energetic Alchemy

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/17AbaGQDt8/?mibextid=wwXIfr

Back in 2010, I published my book Quantum Supplements, where I first explored the idea that nutrients are more than biochemistry. They also carry subtle energetics that interact with the body on many levels, including the chakra system. I’ve distilled that concept here into a simplified visual: a symbolic spectrum of vitamins.

Whether we view the body through molecules or meaning, both are valid languages. Science and spirituality are not opposites. They are mirrors of the same truth.

Here’s how each vitamin supports us physiologically:
Vitamin A – supports vision and immune integrity
Vitamin B1 – helps spark energy from carbohydrates
Vitamin B2 – drives redox reactions for cellular energy
Vitamin B3 – supports NAD+ formation and detox pathways
Vitamin B5 – helps build CoA for stress and hormone response
Vitamin B6 – assists in neurotransmitter and hemoglobin production
Vitamin B7 – supports healthy skin, hair, nails, and metabolism
Vitamin B9 – essential for DNA synthesis and methylation
Vitamin B12 – nourishes blood, nerves, and methylation cycles
Vitamin C – helps form collagen and defend against oxidative stress
Vitamin D – supports calcium balance, immune health, and circadian rhythm
Vitamin E – helps maintain cell membrane integrity
Vitamin K – directs calcium to bones and away from arteries

We often talk about nutrient deficiencies in the physical sense, but have we considered the energetic deficiency of a nutrient as well?

If a vitamin supports vision, repair, resilience, clarity, flow, or protection in the body… where might that also be needed in our inner life?

After years of legal wrangling, Purdue Pharma has agreed a deal to resolve litigation about its role in the US opioid epidemic that will cost it up to $8.3 billion.

As part of the criminal and civil settlement, the manufacturer of opioid painkiller OxyContin (oxycodone) pleaded guilty to a three-count felony, including two counts of violating anti-kickback laws and one of conspiracy to defraud the US government.

In a related settlement, the billionaire Sackler family that own the company agreed to pay $225 million to resolve civil claims.

New Research into benzodiazepines withdrawal has found there are at least five distinct neuro-immunological groups with specific symptomatology

Important for more supportive tapering strategies and even preventative prescribing in the future.

Background Benzodiazepine withdrawal is highly heterogeneous, ranging from mild, transient symptoms to a severe, protracted syndrome. Existing descriptive approaches catalog symptoms without explaining the underlying biology, which often makes the tapering schedule the sole focus of management—an ...

Stroking your own hair helps to regulate self-soothing neurotransmitters which then downstream help with stress, immune regulation and mood.
Body language experts have noted this preening behaviour too and of course sometimes overgrooming including hair pulling or a condition Trichotillomania can lead to damaged areas.
A recent study by Imperial College London (2023) has now demonstrated neurotransmitter being released from hair follicles after touch, the key ones measured were serotonin and histamine.
It was previously believed that only immune cells released histamine so this is an important discovery that could help us to understand more about touch sensitivity, touch disorders, eczema and other inflammatory conditions.
Any regulation of inflammation is always going to soothe stress, so as a therapist working with anxiety, depression and limiting core beliefs I think this important study.
Exercise:
Notice how you treat your hair, could you be kinder and engage more gently with your hair. Which parts of your hair or scalp feel the most soothing when stroked?

Therapy for Change

Working with adults and teenagers.

Therapy for Change was founded in 2012, a qualified psychologist since 1987.

Creating change, effectively and with results that last.

Emotions are not separate from you or your body, occasionally it can feel like they are out of control and all your usual strategies aren’t helping. Or maybe your coping mechanisms are making things worse for you or your family.
