What is cupping?

Cupping, an ancient Chinese healing technique whereby a partial vacuum is created in cups placed on the skin which draws up the underlying tissues. This suction and negative pressure drains excess fluids and toxins, loosens adhesions and lifts connective tissue bringing blood flow to stagnant skin and muscles whilst stimulating the peripheral nervous system. It’s the best deep tissue massage you can get and is indicated in the treatment of coughs and colds, asthma, headaches, dizziness, muscle and nerve pain, cellulite and digestive disorders.

ITS TIME TO LOOK AT YOUR ATTITUDE WITH ALCOHOL

Tired, rundown, constantly late for work? While it's normal to enjoy a glass of wine or two after a stressful day at work, if your social life takes precedence and your health is starting to suffer, it might be time to take stock of your drinking habits.
What makes someone an alcoholic?' Alcoholic’ is not a medical term; it is a term coined by Alcoholics Anonymous. In medicine we classify alcohol problems as ‘alcohol dependence syndrome or harmful alcohol use.'

'The term means that your relationship with alcohol has become so dysfunctional that your life has become unmanageable.
Some people abuse alcohol or ‘binge’ but do not develop an addiction and some people with alcohol addiction problems do not drink to excess. According to Drinkaware, being dependent on alcohol means you feel you’re 'not able to function without it, that drinking becomes an important, or sometimes the most important, factor in your life'.

The bottom line is, if your excessive drinking is causing you emotional distress, your behaviour is impacting your life or your health is starting to suffer, it is time to seek help.

Alcohol can be both physically and psychologically addictive. The most common physical signs to look out for include the following:-

TIREDNESS
POOR WORK PERFORMANCE
MOOD SWINGS
HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE
POOR GLUCOSE CONTROL
REDUCED IMMUNITY
INDIGESTION
HEADACHES
TOLERANCE TO ALCOHOL

If you are felling like you are heading in this direction it may be time for you to rethink your relationship with alcohol.

Acupuncture can help you in many ways. Your practitioner will address the mental and physical imbalance, enhance your energy levels, increase immunity, help you achieve a better sleep pattern and empower you to become the new happier self that you want to be.

Acupuncture has been used to treat addiction to various substances since the 1970s when it was first introduced as a method for treating addiction in the Lincoln Memorial Hospital in New York, USA.

The doctors at this hospital found it so effective as a treatment for he**in addiction that instead of prescribing methadone they began performing acupuncture instead. The NADA Protocol is a methodology for performing ear acupuncture as part of addiction treatment. It recommends inserting five needles into the ear at specific points. The points are as follows:

The Shen Men Point
The Kidney Point
The Lung Point
The Sympathetic Point
The Liver Point
The insertion of needles into each of these points, according to NADA, produces different effects. For example, the stimulation of the Liver Point helps to detoxify the blood, whereas the stimulation of the Shen Men Point will soothe anxiety.
