CALLING ALL THERAPISTS- please read entire post as I need your thoughts please.

Is there anyone that has attended my equine k taping workshop and can attend a horse in SA62 area please ?

I am receiving a lot of enquiries from horse owners at the moment, their horses have a problem and they think k tape might be able to help so they are looking for a trained therapist.
I have been putting them in touch with therapists that I know cover their area but I don’t always know how far people travel etc SO I am planning to hold a register on the website of therapists that have attended my course with the areas that they cover so that horse owners have free access to that.
What do you think ?

Lovely to meet you both and thanks for the flapjack appreciation,
and also for the photos. I rarely have photos of myself at workshops - so had no idea that my lovely warm bobble hat transforms me in to the kinesiology taping gnome🤣😂🤣

Thank you for such an amazing review!

My review of the Equine K Taping course, taught by Denise Cheese: "I attended this fantastic course and highly recommend it to any horse owner or equine professional. The day was well-organised, welcoming, and full of friendly faces - not to mention homemade flapjack! As an ACPAT and RAMP Registered Chartered Physiotherapist, I'm familiar with taping for humans, but this course highlighted key differences when workign with horses. Denise's passion and clear teaching helped refine my technique and showed me how effective equine taping can be. I now feel confident using it as a valuable addition to my treatments, and I'm excited to share simple, affordable techniques with my clients to support their horses between sessions. Denise's knowledge and enthusiasm were truly inspiring, and I look forward to learning more from her in the future." Sue Palmer, The Horse Physio

TAPING TIPS FOR THE FIRST TIME
If your horse (or a client’s horse) hasn’t been taped before, there are a few important things I always keep in mind during those first applications:

🐎Introduce the tape - allow the horse to see, smell, and feel it before it touches their skin. This helps build confidence and reduces stress.

🐎Every horse is an individual - responses to tape can vary. Some horses barely notice it, while others are more sensitive.

🐎Be prepared to adapt – the first application may not always give the exact result you’re aiming for. Sometimes a different technique or placement will be more effective.

🐎Reassess regularly – as the rehab or training process evolves, the taping strategy often needs to evolve with it.

🐎Check in after a couple of hours – it can sometimes take that long for the tape to “set” and for the horse’s body to show its true reaction.

🐎Neurological cases need special attention – horses with neurological conditions may respond differently to taping than those with musculoskeletal issues.

🐎As I meaniomed in my previous post, kinesiology taping is highly stimulating for horses, when taping for areas such as the TMJ or nerve tapings a few hours of application in some cases can be enough.

Top tip- Why Less is Always More with Kinesiology Tape

If you’ve ever used k tape you’ll understand the temptation to use just a little more tape or just a little more stretch but k tape is unlike other modalities where more doesn’t always mean better and more effective! Taping works on the principle of gentle influence and is a highly stimulating therapy for horses.

The magic of taping is that the tape interacts with the skin, fascia, and underlying systems, sending signals that can influence circulation, proprioception, lymphatic flow, and even muscle activity.

Because these systems are highly sensitive, more tape does not equal better results. In fact, excessive tape, too much stretch, or heavy application can overstimulate the horse, reduce comfort, and even interfere with the desired effect. In a world influenced by instagramable photos it’s worth remembering the main objective of our taping is to be effective and to help our horses!

TMJ decompression - This is one of my favourite applications, it can really make a difference to how your horse feels.

By gently lifting the skin, the tape decompresses the area and creates more space in the underlying tissues. This reduces pressure on surrounding nerves endings, it improves circulation and generally helps the area release built-up tension.

The result is pain relief, improved comfort, and a more relaxed happy horse.

This is one of the applications we always cover in the workshop - let me if you’d like details.
