We are very excited to share this news about the new podiatry clinic at Falmer campus University of Brighton in partnership with Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust ⭐️

We look forward to welcoming students on a placement at the clinic from Sep 2026 👣

We’re excited to announce a new partnership with University of Brighton to open a modern NHS podiatry clinic on the Falmer campus this summer.

This new clinic will:
👣Provide 4,500+ extra appointments every year
⌛Help reduce waiting times across West Sussex and Brighton & Hove
👣Support rising national demand for podiatry services
👩🏼‍🎓Give podiatry students access to high quality, hands on clinical experience
🚌Offer improved accessibility, including more parking, disabled access and a bus stop right outside.

We’re committed to delivering high quality care to our communities and supporting the next generation of podiatry professionals.

🌞 We’re loving the sunshine in Brighton today — but these two Podiatry students certainly found an even better view! 🙂

This photo was taken during their clinical placement in South Africa, where they grew their skills, confidence, and understanding of podiatric care in a completely new setting.

At the University of Brighton, Podiatry students have the chance to experience diverse and international placements. Recent placements have taken our students to South Africa, Canada, Barbados, and Thailand… making the academic team well jealous!

Back in the UK, students gain rich clinical experience across the NHS, private practice, specialist clinics and community settings, building the foundations for successful careers in Podiatry.

✨ What a brilliant session on lower‑limb biomechanics and orthotic prescription! ✨

A huge thank you to Neville Parker and Annette Warren from TalarMade for delivering such an engaging, informative and evidence-based session.

It was fantastic to see students from across the programme learning together — Apprentices, BSc Years 2 & 3, and Master’s Pre‑Registration Year 2 all sharing the space, asking great questions, and building confidence in their biomechanical reasoning.

Such a great atmosphere, and a real reminder of how powerful collaborative learning can be.👏🦶📚

👣 Brighton Podiatry Placements: Shaping Skills, Leadership, and Community Impact 👣

Placements are an essential part of podiatric education , helping students develop clinical skills and critical thinking. But at Brighton, podiatry is about so much more.

Our students have the chance to explore diverse placements, including:
- International experiences abroad
- Educational and leadership placements

✨ Our students on educational placements have been working hard making a real impact:

- Delivering a community presentation on diabetic foot health, answering questions with confidence.
- Producing study materials for their peers, including guides on vascular assessments.
- Supporting teaching and creating resources including videos demonstrating common musculoskeletal assessments used in podiatry.

These experiences showcase the breadth of podiatry beyond clinical practice , building skills in education, leadership, and community engagement.

We are proud of their dedication and the difference they are making both inside and outside the clinic. 💡👣

What a week we had! 🎉

You would think we would be winding down by now, but we’re still going full speed!! 🏃

This week we were truly fortunate to welcome outstanding experts who shared their knowledge with our students:

- 👟 David Gruhl, expert sports podiatrist, kicked off the week with a hands-on practical session on orthotic modification.

- 🏛️ On the same day, Iain Spink, Professional Liaison Consultant from the HCPC, gave our students valuable insights into the HCPC and its role in professional practice.

- 🩺 And on Wednesday, we had the privilege of hosting Professor Mark Tagoe, renowned in podiatric surgery, who delivered some fascinating lectures on the surgical treatment of common podiatric conditions.

It’s been an inspiring week of learning, and we’re grateful to all our guest speakers for enriching our students’ journey. 🙏🚀

We were delighted to welcome David Gruhl, expert in Sports Podiatry, to the University of Brighton Podiatry programme yesterday.

His session on orthotic manufacture and prescription was packed with practical application and hands-on learning. The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and came away inspired!💪

A huge thank you to David for sharing his expertise and making the session such a success 👏 And special thanks to Professor Nat Padhiar and the Podiatric Sports Medicine Specialist Advisory Group for facilitating this opportunity. 👍

Today is the day! Another brilliant group of students are heading out on their first placements, and no, it's not Groundhog Day! 🎉

This time it's our BSc (Year 1) students stepping into clinic for the very first time. Since joining us just under two months ago, they have been working incredibly hard to build their podiatry practical skills, successfully completing their diabetic foot assessments 👣, and tackling last week's simulation days that put their communication, clinical reasoning, and hands-on skills to the test, ready for clinic! 💪

Early placements are a vital part of their development —giving students the chance to connect classroom learning with real-world podiatry practice right from the start. And we can't wait to hear how they got on.

A huge thank you to our clinical practice educators for all their support during simulation days and now in placement. 🙌 Your expertise, patience, and guidance make an enormous difference in shaping confident, capable future podiatrists.

Good luck to everyone starting placement — we can’t wait to see you put everything you’ve learned into action!
