The next time you see me for a massage lets spend some time gently releasing the masseter muscle. You may not realise how much stress and trauma is stored there, but if your constantly clenching/grinding your teeth then this muscle gets tight and can contribute to TMJ symptons, headaches and dental problems.
Spending just a few minutes massaging along the jaw line can really help release this tension and you'll be surprised how much calmer and relaxed you feel afterwards.
Opening your mouth as wide as you can, sticking your tongue out and roaring like a lion (lion pose- yoga)is also a great way of streching that muscle and letting go of any stress you may be holding on to!

Your Body Remembers What Your Childhood Nervous System Felt

Researchers revealed a fascinating connection between our childhood experiences and our adult bodies. A new study shows that the patterns and signals formed by the nervous system in early life leave lasting imprints that continue to influence the way our bodies function decades later. These neural “memories” are not just in the brain—they are embedded in muscles, organs, and even immune responses, silently carrying the story of our earliest experiences.

The implications are profound. Childhood stress, trauma, or even nurturing environments can shape how we respond to stress, regulate emotions, and maintain physical health as adults. For instance, early exposure to chronic stress may affect heart rate, digestion, and immune resilience long after the triggering events have passed. Conversely, positive childhood experiences can strengthen neural pathways that support emotional stability, learning, and overall wellbeing.

This research challenges the long-held assumption that our adult bodies are entirely separate from our early experiences. Instead, it highlights a deeply interconnected system where mind and body continuously communicate, reminding us that healing and personal growth may involve more than just addressing the present, it may require understanding and nurturing the echoes of our past.

By recognising that our bodies carry the story of our childhood nervous system, we gain new tools for health, self-awareness, and emotional resilience. Every ache, tension, or reaction may hold a clue about the life we lived and the ways we can shape a healthier future.

My Story

Hello, welcome to my page. I have been practising massage for 16 years and I love my work. It’s an honour and a privilege to be able to offer this therapy that can truly make a difference to your well being. I work from my home and have a beautiful treatment room right at the back of my flat which looks out onto a courtyard garden. Clients feel at ease and are nurtured by the peace and homely environment. Working from home allows me to offer high quality massage treatments at a more affordable price. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing, restorative or therapeutic treatment, your massage will be tailored to your specific needs. I have a passion for learning and undertake continual professional development in the form of courses and my own private study. Through my work I continue to hone my skills and refine my touch so as to be the best therapist I can. When I’m not massaging I currently enjoy spending time with my family, my cat and my plants, travelling to new places, dancing, running, drinking wine and getting creative with interior design.

16 years practice I first got into massage when my daughter was a toddler and I enrolled on an Indian head massage course. I’d never had experience of massage before but I really took to it. I loved working on the public and seeing the instant benefits of reduced stress, relaxed muscles and inner calm. My tutor told me that I had a good touch and that I should run with it and this is what I’ve done! I was quick to rent a therapy room which I shared with other therapists and it was here that I cut my teeth massaging upper back, head, neck and shoulders on a complete cross section of the public. It was a natural progression to want to learn and practice Swedish, hot stone work and pregnancy massage as well as Reflexology and aromatherapy. Then in wanting to further help clients with chronic soft tissue pain and injury I went on to qualify in sports massage and most recently more advanced clinical massage. My back ground I’ve always had an interest in a more holistic approach to health. My first job at 16 was working in a friends health shop and It was here that I learnt about nutrition, herbs and supplements. Years later I returned to these roots and gained a diploma in nutritional therapy. Over the years I’ve maintained a regular yoga practice which has taught me a lot about the body in terms of alignment and the correcting of muscle imbalances. Whilst my strength lies in giving massage, I am able to offer nutritional/supplement advice and demonstrate/recommend yoga poses that I feel would be beneficial for you.
