It’s a Easter Movement Monday today yogis!
Hopefully you’re getting the chance to chill out and stuff yourself with good food and company. And if it all gets too much, just like in a yoga class, there is always child’s pose.
🐣Little bit like curling up into an Easter egg, child’s pose is a lovely restorative posture and great for opening up the back of your body. If you can’t get your tailbone down to your heels, use a rolled up blanket or cushion as a prop. Head doesn’t go all the way to the ground? No problem, get yourself a cushion or block to put under your head.
🐣start by coming down to the ground, on your knees. Bring them together and your feet together too. You can spread both knees and feet if it’s uncomfortable and place something soft underneath your knees too. If flexing your knees is tough, place a blanket between your calves and thighs for support.
🌸take a big inhale and as you exhale, gently pull your lower abdomen in and fold forward. Take your arms behind you, palms gently resting upwards to enjoy a stretch across the shoulders too.
🐣And breath. Notice how it feels. I used to feel restricted in this posture, curling in can compress the airways. Find props and support to allow the breath to flow and notice if your breathing becomes easier as you go along. Imagine expanding your back and the back of your lungs to help find more space.
Let go, chill, stay as long as you need to and enjoy.
