When working in a childcare setting, the safety and well-being of the children is paramount. Having staff that are confident in their ability to deliver effective first aid is a crucial part of that care. In March 2015 the Government put forward a proposal requiring all newly qualified Early Years Providers to hold a valid Paediatric First Aid Certificate. These proposals are expected to come into force in September 2016,
Ofsted will be checking First Aid qualifications in relation to this proposal. It is already considered good practice to have the majority of staff on site qualified and would be reassuring for any management team, to know that any member of staff was able to act effectively in the event of a emergency.
'First Aid abc' was created by Dee Bell Registered Midwife and Sally Gallagher Nursery Owner/Manager in order to meet the First Aid needs of Childcare Professionals. With a background in nursing and midwifery and years of nursery management experience, our trainers and assessors are able to deliver bespoke first aid courses to suit your childcare setting. We are committed to ensuring that training is both accessible and affordable, so we now offer one free space on each course booked, to an additional staff member you might not otherwise be able to fund, such as regular bank, support or kitchen staff.* Ofsted and the EYFS require paediatric first aid training to be renewed every three years, but we believe three years is a long time and it's important to regularly refresh your first aid knowledge. Therefore, we now also offer yearly up-date sessions absolutely free! The name of the company was changed in Oct 2016 to reflect the wider area that the company now serves.
