Yesterday we celebrated Carers Rights Day, an important opportunity to recognise the vital role that unpaid carers play across our communities and to ensure they are aware of the rights, support, and services available to them.
If you or the person you care for needs hospital treatment, support is available. The Carers Liaison Service works directly with carers within healthcare settings, helping to ensure carers feel heard, involved, and supported throughout. They also help facilitate improved communication between healthcare teams and carers, ensuring any needs are identified and responded to appropriately.
Meet Carer Liaison Jo 👋
“As part of my work, I am committed to strengthening how we recognise, value, and involve carers across our pathways. Carers have the right to information, the right to be involved in decision-making (where appropriate and with consent), and the right to support for their own wellbeing. We offer help, support, and advice to carers throughout their hospital journey.”

Carers Support (Bristol and South Gloucestershire) also offers emotional support, practical advice, carers assessments and opportunities for carers to connect with others: https://www.carersbsg.org.uk/
