Welcome to AbleCare Homes page! We are a fourth generation award winning family run company offering small boutique care homes in your neighbourhood.

Get your updates here on things going on in our six care homes such as entertainment and activities, events, minibus trips and days out, updates on maintenance work and refurbishment and so on! AbleCare Homes is a group of six care homes based across Bristol and South Gloucestershire offering residential care to local people provided by local people. We provide care for older people, people with dementia and individuals who need a period of intensive support prior to moving into more independent living. Excellent meals are cooked by our in-house chefs, activities are stimulating and fun, care is provided by professional Care Assistants. We work to Covid-19 safe practices and have excellent infection control. Long term care, short breaks for family holidays and carer breaks, recuperation stays after illness can all be arranged.

This week on resident life, our residents have been enjoying a variety of creative and hands-on activities.

At Rosewood House, residents designed, built and decorated their very own bird’s nests and bird houses, encouraging creativity and a sense of achievement 🐦

Residents from Hengrove Lodge made frozen yoghurt lollies and refreshing smoothies using Waterade. This supported their independence, sensory stimulation and hydration while bringing everyone together for some kitchen fun!

Meanwhile residents at Frenchay House painted beautiful trees using broccoli florets which was a unique way to paint. All the lovely paintings were displayed in the dining room as Frenchay House's very own art gallery!

🧧 Chinese New Year Celebrations Across Our Homes 🧧

Our homes have been full of colour, creativity, and celebration!

Residents at Belvedere Lodge painted beautiful decorations, while Frenchay House got hands-on making dragons. Rosewood House embraced the spirit with vibrant signs, lanterns, a Chinese zodiac game, and even documentaries, all topped off with a delicious themed menu.

Crossley House residents enjoyed wearing masks, relaxing to Chinese music, and tasting rice cakes, while Patron House got creative with festive colouring, traditional fans, and a much-loved Chinese dinner.

At Hengrove Lodge, residents crafted lovely decorations, enjoyed colouring, and even tried using chopsticks at lunch. The day ended with a special surprise… fortune envelopes filled with chocolate, a keychain, and a little bit of luck 🍀

Residents at AbleCare Homes enjoy a range of activities which brings a touch of fun and learning to their day. Here, residents celebrate National Chocolate Cake Day! 🍰🤎

Rosewood House residents celebrated the day by baking delicious chocolate cupcakes. The kitchen was filled with sweet aromas, and everyone enjoyed the rich and yummy chocolate treat ✨

Hengrove Lodge residents also celebrated National Chocolate Cake Day by baking chocolate muffins. It was then decided that chocolate wasn't enough, so by using WaterADE, residents helped make some strawberry flavoured muffins! 😋

This Tuesday, we’re celebrating Emily at Frenchay House, who has been part of AbleCare Homes for 5 years! Many congratulations to Emily on receiving her long service award certificate, card, and flowers. We truly appreciate her dedication, commitment, and everything she’s contributed during her time with us. 💙🌸

Find out what residents did at our homes today! 🥰✨

Rosewood residents enjoyed arranging their own bouquets. The session sparked a lovely discussion about future activities together. Priscilla also whipped up some strawberry WaterADE milkshakes topped with a dollop of ice cream which residents loved! 💐🍦

At Belvedere Lodge, residents enjoyed massages, nail painting, singing, and reminiscing. The fun continued with balloon throwing. It was a playful way to get active and moving!

At Hengrove Lodge, residents made candy floss cocktails using lemon WaterADE, then got active with a big parachute game, trying to keep the ball in the middle. The day finished with puzzles and 60s music for a perfect end 🎶

Residents at Crossley House enjoyed Tai Chi stretches, a guided tropical meditation, and ended the session with a music quiz and feel-good songs!

At Frenchay House, residents enjoyed 1-to-1 construction toy sessions, boosting hand-eye coordination and feeling a real sense of achievement. After lunch, it was karaoke, a game of ring toss, and the day ended with their favourite programme, Mr. Bean 🤣
