It could be you…..
Someone in our circle last night described needing mental space the way a black cab needs space to turn.
You can’t pivot when there’s no room. You can’t hear yourself when the noise never stops.
That’s what France gave these women. Space. Genuine, unhurried, nourishing space.
And four months later? They’re still turning. Still moving. Still finding their way back to themselves when life pulls them sideways.

Four months after our retreat in France, we gathered again last night on Zoom. ✨
And they hadn’t forgotten a thing.
The sunrise runs. The sunset moments. The conversations that finally felt honest. The silence that finally felt safe.
One woman is hosting her very first coaching circle next week. One is learning to set boundaries with the same care she gives her patients. One booked a massage — and this time, she actually went.
Small things. Enormous things.
This is what happens when women in healthcare are finally given permission to breathe.
Space to Breathe — France, June 2026 🌿
A small, intimate retreat in the south of France for senior healthcare professionals who are ready to reconnect with themselves and rediscover what sustainable leadership actually feels like.
If you’ve been whispering to yourself “I need something like this” — you do. And you deserve it.

14-Day Wellness Challenge – Day 4: 4 Steps to Setting Boundaries 🚧✨

Do you often feel drained, as if you never have enough energy for the things you love? It’s time to reclaim your space and set some boundaries. Boundaries are an essential act of self-love and self-respect—they protect your energy and allow you to show up fully in your life.

Here’s a simple 4-step strategy to help you set boundaries with confidence:

1️⃣ Identify Where You’re Giving Away Energy – Reflect on areas in your life that leave you feeling drained. Make a list and choose one to focus on this week.

2️⃣ Acknowledge the Past – Recognise the situation or person involved. Use phrases like “In the past, I’ve...” or “It’s fine if you choose to...” to bring awareness to past patterns.

3️⃣ State the Boundary Clearly – Communicate your needs with confidence. “...But that behaviour doesn’t work for me” or “I’m no longer willing/able to...”

4️⃣ Collaborate on a Solution – If needed, invite dialogue: “What can we do to respect this boundary moving forward?” or “What do you need to help honour this boundary?”

💡 Reminder: Boundaries aren’t about control—they’re about self-care. Reclaim your time, protect your energy, and make space for what truly matters. 🌿💖

14-Day Wellness Challenge – Day 3: Ground Yourself in Nature 🌿🌞

Spend at least 30 minutes outside today, whether in a park, by the water, or simply in your backyard. Let nature refresh your spirit and reset your energy.

As you do, practice 5 Senses Grounding:
See – Notice the colours, movement, and light around you.
Hear – Tune into the sounds of birds, rustling leaves, or distant chatter.
Touch – Feel the texture of the grass, tree bark, or a cool breeze on your skin.
Smell – Breathe in the scent of fresh air, flowers, or damp earth.
Taste – If possible, enjoy a sip of tea, a piece of fruit, or simply the crisp outdoor air.

Let this mindful connection with nature bring you back to the present moment 🌍✨

14-Day Wellness Challenge – Day 2: Tune into the Sound of Rain 🌧️🎶

It has rained pretty much every day since the start of the year! however, today, I invite you to connect with nature by immersing yourself in the soothing sounds of rain. Whether it’s listening to actual raindrops falling outside or playing rain sounds, let the rhythmic patter ground you and bring a sense of calm.

Close your eyes, take deep breaths, and allow the sound to wash away stress, quiet your mind, and reconnect you with the present moment 🌿✨

14-Day Wellness Challenge – Day 1: Write a Letter to Yourself ✨

Take a moment today to write a letter to yourself 💌 What do you need to hear right now? What words of encouragement, love, or wisdom can you offer your present self? Write from the heart and let your thoughts flow.

Once you’ve finished, step away. Go for a walk, sit in silence, or do something that brings you peace. Then, when you feel ready, come back and read your letter. Let your own words sink in and guide your thoughts and actions today. 🌿

✨ Bonus Challenge: Write a short letter to your future self to read at the end of these 14 days. What do you hope to feel, learn, or remember?

She drove into the hospital car park.
And drove straight back out again.
Not because she was lazy. Not because she didn’t care.
Because she was terrified her colleagues would see that she was falling apart.
This is what surgical culture does to brilliant, compassionate people.
It takes the very traits that make them exceptional, the drive, the empathy, the refusal to accept anything less than their best and turns those traits into weapons of self-destruction.
The perfectionism that saves lives in theatre becomes the inner critic that won’t let you sleep.
The ability to perform under pressure becomes the mask you can never take off.
The empathy that connects you to your patients becomes the thing that breaks you when you lose one.
I know this because I lived it.
As a consultant vascular surgeon, I experienced PTSD twice. I went back to work the next day. I carried it in silence. And it nearly cost me everything.
What I’ve learnt since is this:
You don’t need to become tougher. You need a space where you’re allowed to be human.
That’s exactly what the Space to Breathe retreat is.
Five days in the south of France. A small group of healthcare professionals. No performance required. No masks. Just the space to exhale, reconnect with who you actually are, and remember why you chose this work in the first place.
7th–12th June 2026. Carcassonne, France.
If something in you just whispered “I need this” — trust that voice.
Drop me a message or comment BREATHE below, and I’ll send you the details.
