On 2023 I’m thinking about all the women, & people that identify as women, that don’t have the freedom to unapologetically be themselves. I hope one day we can all be free of the restraints society places on us. Free to be who we want to be, to love how we want to love, to be respected for our differences, & to feel safe in being who we are. Until then, we keep fighting, growing & building a better future

If you’re in Bristol over the next few days, come & see this powerful exhibition. 100 golden busts of women & non binary people sharing their stories of times their bodies have been objectified, owned, othered. This is a story very close to my chest, & something I’m proud to support
On this years there’s a call to action to Growing up in an all-female single parent family, my mum taught me I could do anything I put my mind to, irrelevant of my gender or societal constraints. This helped define my identity, whether it’s laying floors, getting myself through a doctorate, parenting, plumbing, sewing or chopping wood. But now my focus has turned to the bias in womens’ sexual health. Medicine is so male dominated that we are often forgotten. Womens’ reproductive organs are often an afterthought, especially after childbirth. Ma********on is a dirty word. I’m going to spend the coming weeks thinking about what I can do to progress the conversation. Let’s

No one has the right to gaslight you, to tell you what you feel. No one has the right to shame you for struggling. Everyone has the right to receive support for their mental health. For all the people that will stigmatise you, there are many more that won’t. If you feel suicidal & you can’t talk to friends or family try contacting one of these organisations. People will hear you & validate you. Please reach out. ***deprevention ***deawareness

This time of year is tough for so many, & perhaps even tougher this year. You are not alone. Please, please pick up the phone if you can. There are many organisations there to get you through. Here are just a few of them. Now is also a good time to get in touch with friends & family who might be feeling a little lonely this Christmas. Reposted from

So often I hear people say things like ‘I’m unlucky in love’ or ‘I’ve been left on the shelf’. Read my blog post about why this sort of language is damaging & ties up in societal expectations of relationships, & how we can start to positively reframe our experience. Link in bio

Healthy relationships can have a big impact on emotional wellbeing. I therefore offer respect, warmth and empathy to help you build a trusting relationship with me, providing a safe space for you to work through your issues. I will work with you to decide on a course of action that we both feel will best help you make positive changes in whatever areas are most concerning you.
One of the most important factors in successful therapy is the relationship between the client and therapist, no matter which type of therapy they offer. Therefore it might help you to try out a few therapists first to see what suits you. I offer an initial session at a reduced rate for us to see how we feel about working together, with no obligation to continue.
The sessions
Sessions will differ depending on the mode of therapy we decide to use. We may work more in the here and now, or we may look at where issues have stemmed from in the past. I will be led by you and your needs. As I am trained in a variety of modes, I am able to use a range of techniques tailored to your specific needs.
Whatever we do together, we will go at your pace. It can take time to feel safe enough to let someone in, so I don't expect you to tell me everything straight away! We will work together - you are the expert in your experience, and I will be there to facilitate you in understanding yourself better so that you can live a more fulfilling, less stressful life. I understand that talking about your issues can feel quite challenging at times. Sometimes you will feel enlightened after sessions. Other times you may feel a little exhausted. This is completely normal and all part of the process of change.
How long will therapy last?
Depending on the issue(s) we are working on, therapy might take place for a relatively short number of sessions (6-12) or may be ongoing. This will be decided between us at the outset and reviewed regularly.
