💉 Thinking about weight loss injections?
If you’re starting Wegovy or Mounjaro, knowing how to use them correctly can make a huge difference in your results.

Here’s how to get the most out of your treatment 👇

✅ Stick to your schedule – take your injections at the same time each week (or day, depending on your medication).
📈 Start low and go slow – follow your prescriber’s plan and never change doses on your own.
❄️ Store your pens properly – keep unused pens in the fridge, and check if your brand can be stored at room temperature once opened.
💪 Inject correctly – rotate sites between your stomach, thigh, and upper arm, and always use a new needle.
🌙 Bonus tip: If you feel nauseous, try injecting in the evening instead of the morning.

Small habits = big results. Stay consistent, follow your plan, and you’ll give yourself the best chance for success. 🌟

💊 Managing your medication at home doesn’t have to be stressful!

If you or someone you care for takes several different medicines every day, you’ll know how tricky it can be to keep track — remembering which pill to take when, making sure doses aren’t missed, and organising everything correctly. It can quickly become overwhelming.

The good news is, there are now some fantastic technologies and pharmacy services designed to make managing medication much easier and safer at home.

✨ Here are a few ways to simplify your medication routine:

✅ Use smart reminders and voice assistants
Set up recurring alerts on your phone or smart speaker to remind you when it’s time to take your medication. Perfect for keeping on schedule and avoiding missed doses.

✅ Try an NHS-approved pre-sorted medication service
With services like PillTime, your prescriptions are checked by pharmacists, sorted into easy-to-open pouches, and clearly labelled with the date and time to take them. No more guesswork or sorting pills at home!

✅ Manage prescriptions through the PillTime app
Order your repeat prescriptions in just a few taps using your NHS login, get reminders when it’s time to reorder, and track deliveries straight to your door.

✅ Use your phone’s accessibility tools
Magnifiers and text-to-speech features can make reading labels and instructions much easier for those with vision or literacy challenges.

When you combine these tools, you can create a seamless system that supports independence, safety, and peace of mind; whether you’re managing your own medication or helping someone else. 💙

💉 Your Guide to Weight Loss Injection Side Effects

For many people, losing weight through lifestyle changes alone can be slow, frustrating, or not possible due to health conditions. Prescription weight loss treatments have changed how doctors and pharmacists can support healthy, sustained weight loss.

Like any medication, they can cause side effects - especially in the first few weeks as your body adjusts. Here’s what you need to know 👇

✅ Common side effects:

Mild nausea or bloating

Constipation or diarrhoea

Fatigue or dizziness

Occasional headaches

Redness or itching around the injection site

💡 Tips to manage them:

Follow your prescribed dose - don’t increase too quickly.

Eat smaller, balanced meals and avoid greasy or spicy foods.

Sip water throughout the day to stay hydrated.

Try ginger or peppermint to ease nausea.

Rest and give your body time to adapt.

Most side effects are mild and temporary, but if you experience severe or persistent symptoms, always speak with your prescriber. They can adjust your dose or timing to help.

When used safely and under medical supervision, treatments are proven to support healthy weight loss and improve overall well-being.

💊 Pouching vs Blister Pack Medication vs Dosette Box

Managing daily medication can sometimes feel overwhelming — especially if you or someone you care for takes several medicines at different times of day. Thankfully, there are great tools and services that can make organising medication easier, safer, and more convenient.

Here’s a quick look at three of the most common ways to manage medications at home 👇

1️⃣ Pouching

💡 Pre-sorted by your pharmacist
With pouching, your medication is organised by a trained pharmacist into small, clearly labelled pouches — each one containing exactly what needs to be taken at a specific day and time.

✅ Benefits:
• Professionally prepared and checked by a pharmacist
• Ideal for complex medication schedules
• Easy to take with you when travelling or out and about ✈️
• Helps build confidence and independence
• Delivered straight to your door 🚚

2️⃣ Blister Pack Medication

This familiar option involves medications packed into trays with foil backing — usually providing a week’s supply at a time.

✅ Pros:
• Organised by your pharmacy
• Easy to check if a dose has been taken
• Can be delivered to your home

⚠️ Cons:
• Less flexible for unusual or changing medication times
• Bulky and difficult to recycle ♻️
• Can cause confusion if taken in the wrong order

3️⃣ Dosette Boxes

Also known as pill organisers, these are reusable boxes divided into compartments labelled with the day and time each dose should be taken. Usually, they’re filled manually at home.

✅ Pros:
• Reusable and eco-friendly
• Flexible — easy to adjust if medication changes
• Available in various sizes for home or travel use

⚠️ Cons:
• Higher risk of sorting mistakes at home
• Can be time-consuming to prepare ⏱️
• Not tamper-proof — compartments can accidentally open

🩺 Which option is best for you?

When choosing between pouching, blister packs, or a dosette box, ask yourself:
• How many times a day do I take medication?
• Do my prescriptions or timings change often?
• Am I confident sorting medication myself?
• Do I travel or spend time away from home frequently?

If you take multiple medications or simply prefer a hands-free, worry-free approach, pouching could be the perfect solution — offering convenience, safety, and peace of mind.

💊 Guide to Weight Loss Medication Tapering

If you’ve reached your goal weight while using weight loss injections, you might be wondering how to safely reduce your dose, and how to avoid putting the weight back on once you stop.

That’s where tapering comes in.

Tapering means gradually lowering your medication dose, rather than stopping suddenly. It gives your body and mind time to adjust, helping you maintain results long-term.

Here’s why tapering matters 👇
✅ Prevents rapid weight regain
✅ Reduces side effects
✅ Supports a smooth transition off the medication

How tapering works:

Reduce your dose slowly over several weeks or months

Check in regularly with your prescriber to adjust as needed

Focus on building habits that support your progress — healthy eating, movement, sleep, and mindfulness

You might be ready to taper if:
💪 You’ve reached your target weight
💸 Cost or supply issues make long-term use difficult
🤒 You’re experiencing unwanted side effects
🩺 Your doctor recommends stopping
🌿 You’ve built strong lifestyle habits to maintain your progress

Tips for maintaining your results:
🥦 Prioritise protein and high-fibre foods
🏃‍♀️ Stay active — aim for at least 150 minutes a week
🧘 Practise mindful eating
📏 Track your weight and habits weekly
⏳ Take your time — tapering too quickly can make things harder

Tapering is safe when done under professional guidance.
Always speak to your prescriber before making any changes to your medication.

If you currently access your injections through PillTime, our pharmacists can help you create a personalised tapering plan and provide ongoing support.

If you regularly take repeat prescription medications but don’t get them for free (are not exempt) from the NHS, a Pre-Payment Prescription Certificate (PPC) could save you a lot of money in the long run.

There are two types of PPC:
- One that lasts for 3 months and costs £31.25
- One that lasts for 12 months and costs £111.60

Starting last year, there's also a special PPC for Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) medication. It lasts for 12 months and costs the same as two regular prescriptions, which is £19.30 in total.

These can be purchased through the NHS website.
