🎉🌸 Celebrating 100 Wonderful Years – Happy Birthday Ninon! 🌸🎉

What an incredible milestone! On Wednesday, our lovely Ninon turns 100 years young 💖

As she will be away for the week enjoying some special time with her family from tomorrow, we didn’t want to miss the opportunity to celebrate her here at Silver Trees. So today, just after lunch, we held an early birthday celebration filled with smiles, laughter, cake and lots of love 🎂✨

Reaching 100 years is truly extraordinary, and Ninon continues to inspire us all with her warmth and grace. It was such a joy for residents and staff to come together to mark this very special occasion before she heads off for her family celebrations.

We wish Ninon the most wonderful birthday on Wednesday and a fantastic week surrounded by her loved ones 💐💝

🏇 Betting & Blockbusters at Silver Trees! 🎬

​We’ve had a fantastic afternoon here at Silver Trees, with our residents enjoying a bit of friendly competition and some classic Hollywood glamour!

​Our gents gathered for their Gents Club, where the stakes were high (but the money was fake! 💸). There was plenty of cheering and excitement as they placed their bets on the horse races. Of course, no race day is complete without a selection of snacks and a proper cuppa to keep the energy up! ☕️🐎

​Meanwhile, the ladies enjoyed a more relaxed pace with a screening of the timeless classic, Funny Face. 💃✨

Since our minibus trip to the museum was unfortunately cancelled, we didn’t let that stop our learning! 📚✨

Instead, we enjoyed watching a fascinating BBC documentary about William Shakespeare. It was wonderful to learn more about his life beyond his famous plays and sonnets, and to discover what influenced his writing and creativity.

There was some great discussion afterwards, with everyone sharing their thoughts on his life and work. A lovely afternoon of learning together! 🎭

This morning at our care home, some of our residents enjoyed a relaxing time working on a jigsaw puzzle 🧩 while the rest of us got competitive with a lively game of dominoes!

When we decided it was time for something different, the fun really began — we challenged ourselves to build the tallest tower possible! Lots of laughter, teamwork, and a few wobbly moments later, we had created quite the masterpiece (before gravity had its say! 😄).

It’s wonderful to see everyone getting involved, keeping active, and most importantly, sharing smiles together. 💛

We had a wonderful live performance from Dave Steer 🎶

Residents were tapping their feet, singing along, and sharing lots of smiles as Dave filled the room with classic favourites and feel-good tunes. Music truly brings everyone together, and it was lovely to see so many happy faces enjoying the afternoon.

This morning we had fun playing agility games together! 🎯💪

There was plenty of laughter, friendly competition, and lots of cheering as everyone joined in. It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm and team spirit.

Activities like these help us stay active, boost coordination, and most importantly, enjoy special moments together. Well done to everyone who took part – you were amazing! 🌟

Today we took a wonderful armchair trip to China! 🇨🇳✈️

Our residents enjoyed a delicious Chinese-themed lunch featuring tasty chow mein, sweet and sour pork, prawn crackers, and fortune cookies – which went down a treat! 🥢🥠

After lunch, we explored the sights and culture of China through beautiful videos showcasing breathtaking landscapes, famous places to visit, traditional dress, and vibrant traditional dances. It was lovely to “travel” from the comfort of our dining room while learning about such a rich and colourful culture.

To round off our adventure, everyone took part in a fun True or False quiz to test their new knowledge – there were some very impressive scores! 👏

It is fills us with love and togetherness each week to have visits from the wonderful local churches. It is important to some of our residents that they keep in touch with their religion/faith after moving into Silver Trees, and it is our mission to provide as many opportunities as possible 🙏

Today at Silver Trees Care Home, we had the absolute pleasure of celebrating Mike’s special day surrounded by his loving family and our wonderful team. 💙

There’s nothing more special than seeing residents share precious moments with those closest to them — laughter, smiles, birthday cake, and beautiful memories made together. 🥰

Mike enjoyed a lovely celebration filled with warm wishes, cheerful singing, and of course, a delicious birthday treat! 🎶🍰 The room was full of joy, and it was clear just how much he is appreciated by everyone around him.

A big thank you to our amazing staff for helping make the day so special, and to Mike’s family for celebrating with us. Family moments like these truly make Silver Trees feel like home. 🏡✨

🥞 Shrove Tuesday Celebrations! 🥞

We had a flipping fantastic time celebrating Shrove Tuesday together!

Residents enjoyed themed word games to get everyone thinking, followed by our fun (and surprisingly competitive!) “Flip the Pancake” agility challenge – congratulations to June, who was our star flipper and well-deserved winner! 🏆

Of course, no Shrove Tuesday would be complete without pancakes for pudding. They went down an absolute treat, with plenty of favourite toppings to choose from. 🍓🍯

What a wonderful start to the day! This morning, our residents enjoyed a fun and energising seated exercise class filled with smiles, laughter, and plenty of movement. 💪✨

Seated exercises are a fantastic way to help maintain mobility, improve circulation, and boost overall wellbeing — all while staying safe and comfortable. From gentle stretches to rhythmic movements set to music, everyone got involved and did brilliantly! 🎶
