It's never too early in the week to take a breath and reflect.
As part of their training, we ask our new Mindline volunteers, What would you tell your younger self?
So here they are, in their own words.
We often don't take a chance to step back and look at how far we've come, and sometimes we need to take our own advice.
Let us know what you'd tell your younger self; someone out there may need to hear it!

The clocks go back at the end of the week.
Autumn autopilot mode is in full effect, but there are also beautiful changes in the leaves, warm drinks, and soup, glorious soup.
But it's also long days of darkness, heavy rain and soggy socks.
The change in the seasons affects everyone differently, and it can affect your mental health.
Here are some of the signs.

Today, we begin Hate Crime Awareness Week.
In Bristol, Hate crimes rose by 15.5% last year, an alarming increase.
The mental health impact of witnessing or experiencing a hate crime is immense; it can lead to increases in stress, anxiety, and social isolation. It has a devastating effect on someone's sense of identity
If you or anyone else you know has been affected by or been a victim of a hate crime or discrimination, you are not alone.
Bristol Mind is dedicated to supporting you to find your confidence and voice as we stand up to hate together.
We focus purely on your mental health and wellbeing, or jointly work on your case with any of our 5 BHCDS partners, ensuring you receive a holistic, trauma-informed service.

Bristol Mind was originally founded in 1965 and is now a registered charity and a limited company. We are a Local Mind Association (LMA) affiliated to National Mind though independent of it i.e. we receive no direct funding from National Mind and make our own decisions about the services we offer. As a registered charity we are managed by a group of trustees who volunteer their time to oversee and support the work of the organisation. We recognise that each individual is a resource for their own recovery. Many of our workers, volunteers and trustees have themselves experienced the impact of emotional and mental distress.
Our aims:
To be a resource for all people in Bristol who identify themselves as having mental health or emotional support needs, and those who support them
To promote emotional and mental wellbeing through delivering high quality services in partnership with others where we can
To raise awareness of, and promote positive views about, mental health issues
Mission Statement:
Bristol Mind is a local resource committed to positively supporting individuals on their personal journey of recovery from the impact of emotional distress. Our staff and volunteers provide a range of accessible, relevant and empowering services that contribute to emotional and mental wellbeing and promote social inclusion. We recognise the importance of challenging stigma and discrimination and working alongside others towards a socially just society that supports good mental health for all.
