Huge congratulations to everyone who tackled the Beyond Bristol Trail & Ultra this past weekend! 🏁

By now, the initial "Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness" (DOMS) should be peaking or beginning to fade. However, the transition from trail mud to Bristol’s tarmac can often mask more significant mechanical issues.

When should you book a screen?

Asymmetrical Pain: If one knee or ankle feels significantly worse than the other.

Localized Swelling: Effusion around the joint that hasn’t subsided.

Neural Symptoms: Any persistent tingling or numbness in the feet following those long descents.

Whether you’re tackling the 25km or the full 55km ultra tomorrow, the work is done. Today isn't about training; it’s about preservation. While you’re packing your gels and checking your mandatory kit, here is your Physio-approved "Day Before" checklist to ensure you reach the start line at Museum Square feeling 100%:

The 'Ni**le' Audit: If you’re feeling a slight tightness in your calves or Achilles, don't panic. Avoid heavy foam rolling today; instead, opt for light, active mobility (think ankle circles and gentle hip openers) to keep blood flowing without causing new inflammation.

Hydration + Salt: With the Bristol humidity, don't just drink water. Ensure you're loading on electrolytes today so your muscles have the sodium/potassium balance required to prevent cramping on those riverside climbs.

The 10-Minute Elevation: Spend 10 minutes tonight with your legs up a wall. It assists lymphatic drainage and reduces that "heavy leg" feeling before a big elevation gain.

Footwear Check: No new shoes! Stick to the pair that knows the Avon mud.
