Last week we were delighted to welcome our first residents to Millstream. It’s been wonderful seeing new faces settling in and beginning their next chapter with us.

We’re proud to continue supporting Alive Activities BME (Black and Minority Ethnic) Elders Health & Wellbeing Project for another year, alongside The Grateful Society and The Anchor Society as part of the Bristol Older People’s Funders Alliance.

This project has been a lifeline for older Black and ethnic minority communities in Bristol - boosting mental and physical health, reducing isolation, and creating vital connections. Led by elders themselves, the groups offer activities, trips, and support that make a real difference.

Danial Banan, our Bank Porter at Cote Lane retirement village, is running the Bath Half Marathon in March in support of Mencap. 🏃‍♂️‍➡️❤️

Mencap is a UK charity dedicated to supporting people with learning disabilities, along with their families and carers. They provide vital advice, personal support services, and opportunities that empower people to live fulfilling, independent lives and break down barriers in society.

Last month, we had the joy of celebrating the 100th birthday of our Westbury Fields retirement village resident, Lillian! Family, friends, and colleagues gathered at our Cricketers Café for a truly special occasion filled with laughter and love.

Lillian and her son Adrian gave a lovely speech, and the celebration was made even more memorable by a beautiful performance from Julia Loveless, who sang some of Lillian’s favourite songs.

We are pleased to share that our first residents have now moved into Millstream at The Chocolate Quarter. With its 44 new apartments, Millstream completes the development of The Chocolate Quarter (TCQ) retirement village in Keynsham. TCQ continues to attract international interest as a model of open retirement living, placing older people at the heart of a thriving community with facilities designed to be shared with the wider public. Resident feedback consistently reinforces the value of this approach, and it is something we are very proud to have delivered. We were proud to support the foundational research behind at the Bristol Robotics Laboratory and to see this important work recognised during Prince William’s visit. It is encouraging to see Prince William highlight the potential of wearable health monitoring to support prevention, early insight and more decentralised models of care.

Congratulations to the Milbotix team and all partners involved in progressing this important innovation.
