πŸŽ‰ A huge well done to our newly trained 8 Key Movers πŸŽ‰

Recently, eight of our wonderful colleagues came together from different villages for a three-day training session. Despite never meeting each other before, they approached the experience with curiosity, enthusiasm, and a true willingness to collaborate.

On the third and final day of training, everyone brought in food and cake, creating a heart-warming atmosphere of sharing and connection. Seeing colleagues chat, laugh, and exchange experiences was truly inspiring.

Your teamwork, kindness and openness made this training unforgettable. Thank you for bringing such positive energy to the experience.

Supporting the lives of older people has been part of the vision of the St Monica Trust since it began over 100 years ago.

Our aim is to help older people live independently in their own community for as long as possible. We do this by helping individuals with financial support through our Individual Giving Fund.

The feedback we receive from the recipients of these grants and their support workers demonstrates the importance of this work and the impact it can have on individuals' lives.

If you know someone 55+ living in Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset or South Gloucestershire and facing a difficult time, our team might be able to help them.

πŸŽ‰ St Monica Trust has been named Apprenticeship Employer of the Year (England) by Gower College Swansea πŸŽ‰

We are thrilled to accept this award and delighted to see St Monica Trust recognised for our dedication in developing our team. Apprenticeships play an important role in addressing skill gaps, building future capability, and investing meaningfully in our people. By supporting our colleagues to learn, grow and progress, we’re ensuring they feel valued and empowered in their careers.

The award was collected by our colleagues Sarah Bicknell and Stacey Payne, on behalf of Darren Way, our Residential Services Manager – the driving force behind the programme. Apprentices Gemma Cordon and Charlotte Gunning also attended the ceremony. As their line manager, Darren championed the idea, encouraging the team to take part. He has been hands-on in supporting them every step of the way. Sarah shares:

β€œThis award reflects the encouragement and support that Darren Way has given in helping so many members of his team, securing places on the apprenticeship scheme. Darren has a genuine passion for believing in people, recognising their potential, and creating meaningful opportunities for their growth.”

β€œThrough the scheme, colleagues have been able to grow in confidence, develop new technical and professional skills, and broaden their career horizons. With such a successful uptake, this will create a ripple effect across the service, with individuals bringing fresh perspectives, new ideas and renewed energy back into their teams.”

We’re incredibly proud of the impact our apprenticeship programme is already making and excited to continue expanding our offer in the years ahead. We can’t wait to see where this journey takes us.

Charterhouse Care Home residents, friends, and neighbours made the most out of a rainy winter’s day with a visit to the Brassmills pub. 🍺

Great company, a crackling log fire, and a well-earned drink. Sometimes the simple things really are the best. It’s aways wonderful to see our community come together and create these little moments to remember. ❀️

⭐ Yesterday, we celebrated the Opening Ceremony for Millstream, the final phase of The Chocolate Quarter retirement village in Keynsham. This is a truly special milestone, and we were thrilled to see so many people come together to mark the occasion. ⭐

Eight years ago, we opened The Chocolate Quarter with the belief that older people wanted an open, integrated community to be a part of. That vision made The Chocolate Quarter the first retirement community of its kind in the UK, and Millstream is the final piece of that jigsaw.

We were joined by residents, colleagues, trustees, executive team, and all the incredible people who made Millstream happen. Our Chief Executive, David Williams, took the opportunity to express his heartfelt thanks and to recognise those who brought this vision to life. A very special mention goes to Dave Winslow, who has worked on the building of the Trust's retirement villages since 2004 and is retiring after seeing this project through to completion.

We couldn’t be prouder of what has been built here - not just the beautifully designed spaces, but the community that fills them. We can’t wait to see Millstream thrive. ❀️

✨ Residents at Westbury Fields retirement village recently took a trip back in time to celebrate the decade that brought us leg warmers and power ballads. ✨

Gym instructor Natalie Greenland led an energetic workout session set to a soundtrack of classic β€˜80s hits. Everyone got stuck into the occasion, dressing up in colourful arm and headbands. The fun continued with a retro style buffet and a chance to catch up over good food and make great memories. Wonderful to see everyone come together for such a fun event. 🎢
