Deeelighted to be back once again with co-hosting the Harbourfest dance tent with the legends and Bandyt. Catch us there Saturday and Sunday 11.30-18.30 🐟🐟🐟

This year I’m also stepping up to lead a kids dance workshop on SUNDAY 13.20-14.05. Gonna be mostly lots of lil movement games, DEFINITELY a limbo, probably a conga line aaaand whatever else we dream up in the moment! Inspo came last year when so many kids wanted to come up on stage but they weren’t allowed - this year we are 💯 making space for that to happen 🥰 🥰

Soul nurturing scenes at Saturdays event. So happy to have been a part of this beautiful gathering. Huge thanks to everyone who came down - it was magic to share it with you and a testimony to the power of collective movement ✨🙌

Having spent the best part of 3 decades immersed in club culture, it feels like both a full circle moment and a turning point towards embracing the sober positive perspective.
LOVED the no phones, no chat boundaries during the techno therapy sesssion. Felt a sense of connection that was authentic, unique, and doubtfree 💯

Gratitude to Jo for bringing this together, Prabuddha .amsterdam for the beautiful space holding, all the participants for showing up with open hearts and minds, and, of course, everyone for supporting and providing the PERFECT environment for it happen ❤️

Hopefully not too long before we do it again!!!

You can find a thousand articles online about the benefits of dancing. They tend to evidence things like increased motivation, cognitive vitality, cardiovascular fitness. I’m more interested in the research that affirms the social benefits; the transformation that happens between people during and after the dance experience.

Studies show that after dancing in unison, participants were more likely to share resources, communicate with empathy and advocate for one another. This happens because when we move together we experience something called Self-Other Merging - we perceive similarities over differences and strangers become known to us in the vulnerability of physical exchange.

The potential of this blows my mind!

The moving body is our most powerful tool - in celebration, in grief, in protest and in healing.

2 X Dream Team

Celebrating my soulful, connected, intuitive co-leads as we reach the end of 1 years dance facilitation at Easton Primary. We’ve been running two projects for and , both of which came to an end this week.

What can I say about the sessions…loud, challenging, joyful, chaotic, so many personalities in the room, so many displays of effortless style and grace, so many bursts of positive growth 🌱🌱🌻

I learnt a ridiculous amount - most particularly trying to maintain a person centred approach within the rigid structures of the school system. More play I say. MORE CREATIVITY IN SCHOOLS NOT LESS.

Feeling the injustice of the general deprioritisation of creative subjects. It seems transparent how beneficial they are to social and emotional development, OBVIOUSLY kids learn best through movement and play (there’s plenty of research to prove it). Also you can literally teach on any topic through the medium.

Enough rant. More praise! Love these women! Thanks for the dancing, thanks for the chats, thanks for putting up with me. It’s been real 😂❤️

Here are some class updates from meeee as we step into valentines season and BEYOND t’wards the lightness of spring 🌱

I run lots of session over the week atm but most of them are closed group or 1:1 - this is my only open class AND WHAT SWEET JOY it is!! Thanx to all the lush ones who’ve been coming along since we started in sept. I probably don’t do enough gratitudes for ya because truly, it couldn’t happen without u 🫶

Feels like we’ve got a real cute thing goin on. Selfishly I wanted to create a class that I would enjoy equally as both facilitator and participant with ZERO stress and that’s exactly what it’s been. If you wanna join you can book thru headfirst and it’s now also listed on ClassPass 🎟️🎟️🎟️

I first fell in love with house dance (and the music) when I stumbled unknowingly into a bar called Sin Sin on the Lower East Side in 2007. I’d never been in a space where the dance was so connected, reciprocating, expressive, giving and free. Fair to say that experience changed my perception of what clubbing could be, and probably shifted my entire worldview tbh.
Came back to Bristol feeling I’d discovered a whole new universe. Wouldn’t shut up about it and was no doubt intolerable 😂

And so here we are! Join me on fortnightly Saturdays in sharing this great passion. It’s for anyone who wants to get deep in the groove and free from all worldly concerns 🚀🪐

International Arts and Culture Conference’24

Still reeling from this inspiring conference I was lucky to attend in Belgium last week. So many big thinkers, insightful connections and dedicated practitioners. The focus was Culture and Mental Health: Refugees, with the many contributors including and

Still need to download my experiences over the two days - it was a lot, and all demanding further reading, reflecting and unpacking.

Projects included EXPLORING HOMESICKNESS in DANCE and MOVEMENT (excellent workshop by Sarah Kaerts), PUBLIC LIBRARIES AS PLACES OF CARE, PSYCHOSOCIAL SUPPORT USING DRAMA and PLAYBACK THEATRE, BODY MAPPING, and DIGITAL ARTS for YOUTH and COMMUNITY WELLBEING.

Personal high was the presentation from Sarah Jackson and with their project VOICE NOTES (excerpts show in photo slides) in collaboration with .kurda

Hats off to and Bart Marius for the curation and programming. Thanks for the incredibly nourishing, galvanising and welcoming experience 🙏
