December 1st 🤍
The start of a beautifully busy month for so many of us. In clinic, we see it in our patients — and feel it ourselves too: frazzled bodies, full minds, and even fuller to-do lists.

This December, remember: it’s meant to be a joyful season… and you’re allowed to slow down and actually enjoy it.

Christmas always comes together — it always does. Magic doesn’t mean perfection. Overwhelm and burnout are very real in December.

If you need a moment to unwind, reset, or give your body some extra care, we’re here for you.

We’re open as usual right up until Christmas week — so don’t forget to book in for your treatment.

You’ve got this. ✨

✨ Cranial Osteopathy: Gentle, Effective Healing ✨

Cranial osteopathy uses light, calming holds to help your body release tension, ease pain, and find balance. Though often linked to the head, it supports the whole body — from cranium to pelvis and beyond.

Suitable for all ages, this deeply relaxing approach can help with long-standing tension, stress, and discomfort. Many people leave feeling calmer, lighter, and more aligned.

At Bristol Osteopaths, our experienced practitioners Jeni Sloane and Adam Mackintosh offer specialist cranial osteopathy.

Who needs wheels when you have a paddle? Tim's trading in his bike for a canoe to commute to work this week. Being a little unconventional isn't required to work here... but it's definitely encouraged!

What does osteopathy for babies look like?
Lots of smiles and giggles, usually!

Our talented paediatric specialist, Jeni, leads our children's clinic with gentle, play-based assessments and fun treatments.

From newborn check-ups to feeding issues, colic, and sleep problems, osteopathy can help. Jeni's expertise reassures and educates mums and carers about their little ones' well-being.

What is Osteoporosis?
Osteoporosis is a condition where bones become weak, brittle, and more prone to fractures. It develops when bone density and quality are reduced, often progressing silently over years. Common fracture sites include the hips, spine, and wrists.

It’s more common in women over 50, but men can develop it too — especially those with certain medical conditions or lifestyle risk factors.

Are You at Risk?
You might be at greater risk of osteoporosis if you:

Are over 50

Have a family history of osteoporosis or fractures

Have gone through early menopause

Take steroids long-term

Smoke or consume excessive alcohol

Have a low body weight or a history of eating disorders

But there’s good news — you can take action today to protect your bones.

We have appointments available all summer. ☀️

Some of our availability is actually better than usual as so many patients are away at the moment.

Every holiday season we see a flux of injuries from travel, different beds and activities, even footwear (flipflop!) injuries!!

Getting you out of pain is what we do. And we do it well!

What Inspired Us to Become Osteopaths – Part 1 💬
Tim Chapman, Clinic Partner and experienced osteopath.

“My journey into osteopathy began at 18, when I suffered a pr*****ed disc. I was in severe pain and struggling to walk — until I saw an exceptional osteopath in Aylesbury. His treatment changed everything. He got me back on my feet and back into sport.
That experience inspired me to train as an osteopath myself.

Now, in my 50th year, I’m returning to one of my passions: canoeing. This year, I’ll be competing in the International Liffey Descent in Ireland — a 30km race down 10 weirs (in flood!) with one portage. It’s the only race I never got to do — until now.”

We’re excited to share more stories from our team in the weeks ahead — each one shaped by personal experiences, a passion for helping others, and a belief in the body’s ability to heal.

Massive Congratulations to Elly Dove who married Ted last week. What an absolutely beautiful day and no better reason to be away from clinic for a few weeks.
Ellie joined our team at Wells Road as an Osteopath to cover Claire's second maternity leave in 2019 and we never let her go, she is a joy to have and a talented Osteo.
