A patient gave me these on Tuesday. "These are for you." "Oh thank you, but why?" "The letter you wrote to the GP, it was brilliant. I felt listened to, understood. You connected all the dots and made it make sense".

She had been a brand new patient the week prior and I felt it necessary to include her GP in her treatment plan, so wrote a letter advocating for her and requesting tests. We're fortunate to have time with patients to listen to stories and do thorough examinations, and when needed, involve other medical professionals.

All in a day's work. What a wonderful job we have.

What is Osteoporosis?
Osteoporosis is a condition where bones become weak, brittle, and more prone to fractures. It develops when bone density and quality are reduced, often progressing silently over years. Common fracture sites include the hips, spine, and wrists.

It’s more common in women over 50, but men can develop it too — especially those with certain medical conditions or lifestyle risk factors.

Are You at Risk?
You might be at greater risk of osteoporosis if you:

Are over 50

Have a family history of osteoporosis or fractures

Have gone through early menopause

Take steroids long-term

Smoke or consume excessive alcohol

Have a low body weight or a history of eating disorders

Some of our availability is actually better than usual as so many patients are away at the moment.

Every holiday season we see a flux of injuries from travel, different beds and activities, even footwear (flipflop!) injuries!!
