Just as I was lusting after these sun kissed days 🌞 the spring equinox has treated us to sunshine smiles & clear blue skies. Make sure to get outside over the next couple of days & move that beautiful body of yours, maybe whispering (or shouting loud and proud 😝) a loving word to yourself of acceptance, gratitude or hope πŸ’œ

Self care can be so simple yet not always easy so let's use this energy of the spring equinox to plant the seeds and start strong... if each day we take just one action or make just one decision, however tiny, that supports our self care... over time what might we grow?! 🌸 🌻🌷

In class I support us to develop an intimate relationship with our bodies:
🌸 by dropping in to and checking in with our bodies to see whats alive and present
🌸 meeting ourselves with acceptance & compassion exactly where we are
🌸 by moving in a way that nourishes our bodies and gives them what they need in this particular moment
🌸 by deeply listening to the feedback our body gives us
🌸 by practicing gratitude for our bodies for everything they do for us every day
🌸 by giving ourselves a big beautiful hug πŸ€—

In all the sadness, anger, devastation and uncertainty of the current situation it's understandable to also be feeling scared, helpless, or out of control.

One thing we do have control over is remembering to turn to our self care practices to ground ourselves, to support us in holding ourselves and others tenderly with compassion, and to find some precious moments of inner peace and stillness, however fleeting that may be.

I'm back teaching this week and would love for you to join me in carving some time out for ourselves and our well being.

Celebrate your achievements πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

I believe in regularly spending time outside out of my comfort zone (whilst also being able to compassionately accept & find joy in where I am and have gratitude for all the places I have been!! Also very important!)

πŸŽ‰ How often do we take the time to truly celebrate and reflect on our achievements no matter how big or small they may seem?
πŸŽ‰ To integrate any learning, and to cultivate gratitude not just for the opportunity and the experience but also the inevitable lessons we learned along the way?
πŸŽ‰ How often do we instead constantly push on to the next thing without time for pause or breath?

My most recent achievements definitely came from being very much outside of my comfort zone! And have resulted in a deepened respect and appreciation and to be honest sheer amazement for my mind soul and body. I will no doubt speak about some of these in future posts but for now...

I want to share that I'm super proud of myself for climbing up two volcanoes Acatenango and Fuego to an elevation of 13000 feet, hiking 11.2km uphill ☺️. We sat on the ridge just 350m from the eruptions, and camped (camped.... definitely not slept!) to volcanic vibrations and the boom of the eruptions, watching in awe as the lava flowed through the night πŸŒ‹.

Without a doubt one of the hardest yet most rewarding experiences of my life! There were so many times when I honestly didn't think I could continue due to sheer exhaustion with a side dash of altitude sickness thrown in for good measure! πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚ But with the support of , our amazing group & guides , and with my Dad's presence at my side I found a meditative pace and just kept placing one foot in front of the other without thinking about how far I still had to go. Step by step we got there and my god was it bloody worth it!!!! Most incredible thing I've witnessed πŸ’«

What are you proud of yourself for & how can you take some time to acknowledge, share reflect, and celebrate it? πŸŽ‰

Depth of feeling

In the midst of the most deepest pain there can be enhanced capacity to see beauty in the everyday.
When we sit with our darkest emotions & truly feel into and be with their depth, our ability to tune into the whole spectrum of emotions available to us increases.
And when we witness in awe and gratitude the absolute maginficance of mother nature we better understand the necessary cyclical nature of life πŸŒŽπŸ’«πŸ’œ

The power of mother nature 🌳

On the morning of my Dad's passing after me & my Mum had been by his side continuously for 3 days & 3 nights I took a break and took myself for a walk in the common by the hospice. I breathed in the fresh winter air with a new found appreciation for this simple act. I passed happy couples and laughing families spending quality time together in the days before Xmas and I felt no sense of annoyance or jealousy. I smiled at them and wished them a Happy Xmas. I took photos of scenes of nature that on that particular morning I found so so beautiful and I went back to the hospice to tell my Dad about all that I saw (Dad was no longer awake or responsive but I very much believed he could still hear us).

I look back at these photos now and I don't see what I saw on that day- I see grey skies and bare trees. But what I do see is that in the midst of all the exhaustion, sadness, fear and anxiety, that being out in nature that morning brought me a deep sense of calm and acceptance that I needed to get through the rest of the day.

My Dad loved spending time in nature, the woods being his go-to, and shared this passion with me. So now whenever I spend time with mother nature, forest bathing in particular, it not only offers me a reset, a rejuvenation, a renewal but I feel close to my father too πŸ₯° another reason why this trip is so important to me ☺️.

πŸ•ŠGrief πŸ•Š

It's been a challenging month. I've basically been different levels of numb since Dad's passing. And although I knew that would be part of my process it's still felt really very odd & I've needed to be continually mindful not to hold myself to some idea of what grieving should look like. I know I can't place a timeframe on,Β  or rush through, the stages, I just need to be present with whatever my experience is in each moment.

I trust that the numbness will ease when I make the space & time to be with my grief & when I feel safe enough to fully surrender to it. So I've taken a month to travel and whereas I usually choose to do the big trips on my own, this time having at my side has felt like the right decision, allowing myself to be held in the process. Its the first time a trip hasn't been accompanied with excitement but instead with unease about being far away from my family while we are all navigating through the early days of living alongside our loss. But I know that these feelings of ambivalence are ok too.

So off I go on my next adventure ✈️ to no doubt have some life changing experiences, to meet some beautiful souls, and create some precious memories... as well as to honor whatever my process may bring.... knowing there may be intense waves or a deep sense of shedding and release.... or maybe just a gentle and occassional easing of numbness!! My intention is to stay open to it all and hold myself in loving compassion πŸ™

Sending love to everyone who is navigating their own loss or in their own process right now. Please know you are not alone ###x

New beginnings ~ New class

I moved to Greenbank in Easton earlier this year, a lil part of Bristol with its own unique identity and community, which I already feel a part of πŸ₯°.

Community is so so essential to our wellbeing-Β  it offers us new connections, a sense of belonging and of being part of something bigger than ourselves, opportunity to empower and support each others' growth & achievements, & motivate each other to move in the direction of our values.

I'm so grateful for the opportunity to offer a community class where I live, and in doing what I love πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ be able to support the newly opened Charleen], a beautiful space of creativity and empowerment in the heart of Greenbank πŸ’œ.
