For anyone due in those warm summer months… the next .with.ellie class is due to start in May. Antenatal classes shaped around what YOU need to know, led by myself a midwife of almost 15 years.

Four evening classes based in the beautiful in Willsbridge. Lots of information, practical tips and support readying you for when you need it most.

Feeding your baby 🌼🌸

I felt very lucky to have a lunch date with the girls this week. As a bunch of Midwives it’s difficult to orchestrate a date we can all do around our shifts, but this week the stars aligned and we had the most fabulous time. We had a VIP guest and sweet baby Daphne joined us, the smallest member of our girl gang. I’m sure you’ll agree she had her dinner in style and we loved watching her gaze around the pretty restaurant- it was great baby sensory! 🫶🏻

On week three of .with.ellie we take a dive into the world of feeding your baby. Breast or bottle, we cover it all. I give you balanced information so you can make a decision about feeding your baby that works for you. We talk about how products on the market may not all they crack up to be, and how useful dads help is with every aspect of feeding your newborn. Some people will leave the class having not made a decision around how they want to feed their baby, but armed with a toolbox FULL of knowledge ready to use when their baby is finally here.

Dads.

Throughout all of my .with.ellie sessions, I try to weave in lots of useful information for the dads in the class. What they might expect, what they can do to help, how to advocate for their partners, and how to understand the importance of responsive care for the newborn baby.

So often men can be neglected with antenatal classes. When booking with me, I want men to be just as informed and empowered as their partners. This paves the way for greater understanding and the ability to communicate so much more effectively as a team. I also end the final session with a little bit of homework exploring each other’s ideas of parenting. Being a parent isn’t just about the big events like Christmas or birthdays, it’s the daily routine of life- what to you BOTH want that to look like?

For anyone who has completed a Nesting With Ellie Course, I offer an in home visit. During this time, I will come to you and support you in the comfort of your own home. For some people that might be feeding support, techniques to soothe a fractious baby, or a listening ear if you felt like your birth didn’t go the way you had planned… or a mix of all three!

Let me help take some of the overwhelm off of your shoulders and have two hours of nurturing and support by someone who understands and can give you the time you need. This service is best for those early newborn weeks.

As we enter the fourth and final (!) week of Januarys class I thought I’d pop on with future availability.

My next set of Antenatal classes will be starting in March and May is also available to book if you are being super organised!

Ideal to commence after you are 26 weeks, and with enough time to complete the course before your precious bundle arrives. Each week we cover lots of different subjects and I’m guided by you- what YOU need to know and learn is very important to me.

Small, intimate classes with likeminded people ready to start on their most exciting adventure yet. As I’m sure you already know if you follow me, I am a fully qualified midwife so I’ll only give you evidence based information meaning you feel fully informed about your pregnancy, birth and life with a newborn.

I was very lucky to be on shift the other morning and meet one of the dear little babies born after his parents completed my October class. I think you can see my delight… that newborn scrunch and smell I will never grow tired of 🥰

As I pack all my props and posters ready to embark on a new class for parents to be later on, it’s a joy to know that the last class have their babies safely here. Thank you to everyone booked on for tonight and how exciting is it that it’s your turn next!

When you’ve booked on to my course, I am always available for a chat, to ask a question or to send me photos of your beautiful babies! This isn’t just a business to me, it’s a passion of mine to empower families and get them off to the best start. If there’s babies for me to cuddle too?! Perfection!

Popping on facebook after a very busy Christmas to wish everyone a Happy New Year! I’m working tomorrow so thought I would get in while I had 5 minutes. Here’s my two delicious cheeky boys making a wish for the new year on our favourite dog walk.

I am so grateful for all of the likes, shares and recommendations of my business- I see YOU and it means so much!

I also want to say thank you for the couples who have completed a Nesting with Ellie course, and those who have booked on for January. Knowing I’ve been a small part of your journey is so wonderful.

I’ve kindly had permission to share this message, as I thought the words were so lovely.

There isn’t a huge business behind me, a massive marketing budget or a team of people behind the scenes. .with.ellie is just me, and my love of working with expecting families. I try not to be too political on here, but the articles in the press certainly paint out a bleak picture of maternity services at times.

My hope when embarking on my antenatal classes was exactly this… that parents would be safely informed and able to make decisions that suit them as a family. That they wouldn’t search for answers on Google but would know when to reach out to their booked hospital and know what safe care looks like. Over the years I’ve grown to struggle hearing the phrase ‘I didn’t want to waste anyone’s time’ or ‘why didn’t I know that’.

I can’t teach everything in my classes (there wouldn’t be enough time!) but when you book onto my course you will be getting the best information currently available, and a midwife cheerleader supporting you the whole way! I think if you can put in the time to research a new car, a pram or a cot then spend a little time too researching antenatal classes that you resonate with so you can feel as confident as you can going into a new chapter of your lives.

Twinkly lights and the tiniest of toes! Some people worry about having a baby around Christmas, will there be staff working? Will my child hate their birthday around the festive period?

Let me reassure you! Midwifery is a 24hour service, so we will be there… adorned with tinsel and big smiles as it’s always a lovely atmosphere in Maternity around the big day. So if you have anything worrying you or a question, there is always someone available to see or speak to you. Do not delay contacting your booked hospital if you have a concern just because of the date.

As for the December Birthday… I can’t speak for everyone but having an in-between Christmas and NYE birthday I have always LOVED my birthday! The lights, the tree and the joy of MORE presents to open always means that this Capricorn drama queen highly recommends a December DOB! DO NOT forget separate birthday and Christmas wrapping papers however 😂

Midwife hack! Forgotten your speaker to listen to your labour playlist? Ask your midwife for a vomit bowl… it works perfectly at creating an acoustic extravaganza! My sons trip to A&E this week reminded me how handy these cardboard bowls are for every use you may need them for 😂

A reminder I have only TWO spaces available for my next course starting January 9th 2025. Come and learn all you may need to know about pregnancy, labour and your newborn baby in a warm and cozy environment. Ask questions to a midwife with over 14 years clinical experience. Ask for practical advice from a mum of two.
