Dear patients

We currently offer a free delivery service. This service we hope to continue, however deliveries are not currently funded by the NHS and it is a service pharmacies have paid for themselves to support those in need within the community.

The current climate of rising fuel costs and increased demand has rendered the service unsustainable at its current level.

We hope to carry on offering the service to vulnerable patients and housebound. In order to do this we need to reduce our deliveries. We therefore ask for those patients that are able and currently using the delivery service out of convenience rather than necessity , to please find alternative means to obtain their prescription.
To those who can, please collect your prescription or get someone to collect for you.

By reducing our delivery volume we will be able to carry on providing the service to those who need it most

*Update: In response to some of your questions: yes we do run a reserve list, but you cannot actively join. Our booking centre will contact those who are next in line for the vaccine - and are in the correct priority groups - in the event of slots opening up at short notice.*

⚠️ An urgent message regarding Covid vaccination appointments in Swansea Bay.
We have experienced a sharp rise in the number of people failing to turn up for their appointments at our Mass Vaccination Centres.
By 2pm on Monday, February 1, there had been 60 DNAs (did not attend) at the Bay Field Hospital alone. Overall yesterday 6.5% of people booked in at the Bay did not attend.
These appointments had not been cancelled with the booking centre.
Faced with mounting spare vaccines which had to be used yesterday or thrown away, our staff volunteered to stay late to use up the vaccine on people called in at very short notice from our reserve list.

✔️ PLEASE contact our booking centre (the number is on your appointment letter) if you cannot make your appointment or do not want the vaccine.
🚫 But DO NOT ring this number – or any other contact centre number shared on social media and via text – if you have not been given an appointment and are not in the correct priority group. You will not get an appointment this way.

Benefits of having vaccine

It can take 10 to 14 days for the flu vaccine to work

❓Who can have a FREE flu vaccine❓:
• 50 -64years (including those who'll be 50 by 31 March 2021)
• have certain health conditions 18+ 🔞
• are pregnant 🤰
• are in long-stay residential care
• receive a carer's allowance, or are the main carer for an older or disabled person who may be at risk if you get sick
• live with someone who's immunocompromised 🏡
• social care staff 👩‍⚕️

Heath conditions include:
• respiratory conditions – asthma & COPD🫁
• diabetes
• heart conditions - coronary heart disease/heart failure 🫀
• being very overweight – a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or above
• chronic kidney disease
• liver disease
• neurological conditions 🧠
• a learning disability
• problems with your spleen
• a weakened immune system
