Westmeria Counselling Services

Westmeria Counselling Services We were established in 2003 to help people in crisis, or just in need of support, with an emphasis on depression.

There are times when we all need a little help…. We are primarily a voluntary organisation, serving the local community. We were established in 2003 to help people in crisis, or just in need of support, with a particular emphasis on those suffering from depression. It is our aim to reverse the trend of reliance on anti-depressants. Our professional, qualified counsellors offer counselling on a donation basis, helping to make such a vital service both affordable and accessible. Each session lasts for 50 minutes and there is an upper limit of 24 sessions. We also offer mental health support in the work-place, by offering workshops and employee counselling to companies.

🌟 Little jars with a big purpose 🌟

We know that counselling can sometimes feel a little daunting — so we’ve added a few thoughtful touches to help you feel more at ease in our waiting room.

💚 Fidget jar: For those moments when keeping your hands busy helps calm your mind- feel free to borrow a fidget toy for your session.
🍭 Lollipop jar: Because doing the work in counselling takes courage - take a little sweet reminder that you’ve got this.

It’s often the small gestures that make a big difference. 💫

💛 Today is World Kindness Day! 💛

At Westmeria, we believe small acts of kindness can make a big difference - a listening ear, a kind word, a moment of understanding.
Take a moment today to ask yourself: How can I show someone I care?

✨ Check in on a friend
✨ Offer encouragement
✨ Be kind to yourself, too

Kindness is contagious — let’s spread it together. 💛

A big thank you to everyone who joined us for the annual Westmeria Quiz Night last night! 🤓🎉

We had a fantastic evening - all in support of mental health and wellbeing in our community. A special shout-out to for being an incredible host and keeping us entertained throughout the night and congratulations to ‘50 Shades of Grey Matter’ who scooped first prize.

Together, we raised vital funds to help Westmeria continue providing accessible counselling and emotional support to those who need it most. 💚

Emotional burnout doesn’t always look like falling apart, sometimes, it looks like holding everything together.

You might be showing up, meeting deadlines, and keeping up appearances… but inside, you feel drained, disconnected, or simply done.

Burnout can creep in quietly — through exhaustion, isolation, and the feeling that even small tasks take too much energy.

If this sounds familiar, please know you’re not alone, and it’s not a sign of weakness. It’s a sign you’ve been strong for too long without enough rest, support, or space to recharge.

💬 Talking to someone can make a difference.
At Westmeria Counselling Services, we provide a safe, compassionate space to help you reconnect, recover, and find balance again.

What a truly inspiring day we had at the Evolution of Finance: Women in Business event yesterday! 🌟

It was brilliant to have been part of such a powerful gathering- listening to the stories of so many incredible women in finance, hearing how they’ve navigated career challenges, broken through ceilings, and prioritised mental well-being along the way.

From discussions on leadership, resilience and mental health in high-stakes environments, to the shared wisdom of those who’ve carved out their own path, there was an energy in the room that reminded us why our work matters. Because beyond spreadsheets and strategy, real strength lies in connection, self-care and community.

A huge thank-you to the organisers 1230 The Women's Company and to every speaker who shared their journey so openly. We’re inspired, encouraged and motivated to keep supporting women’s mental health in business, today and every day 💜

🌍 World Mental Health Day 2025 🌍

This years theme: "Access to Services – Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies"

Today is World Mental Health Day, this years theme set by the World Federation for Mental Health, shines a light on a vital truth, everyone deserves access to mental health support, no matter the circumstances.
From global crises like natural disasters and conflicts, to deeply personal emergencies such as grief, burnout, or illness - the impact on mental health can be profound. Yet, too often, access to the right care remains out of reach.

At Westmeria Counselling Services, we believe that mental health support should never be a privilege - it’s a necessity.
We’re here to ensure that, even in life’s most challenging moments, no one has to face them alone.
Let’s work together to bridge the care gap, raise awareness, and make mental health services accessible to all - in times of catastrophe, and in the quiet crises of everyday life. 💚

✨ Sunday Self-Care Reminder ✨
Self-care isn’t always bubble baths and candles - sometimes it’s setting boundaries, cleaning your space, or saying “no” without guilt.

Today, take a moment to do one small thing that brings you peace, even if it’s just sitting in stillness and breathing deeply.

What’s one form of real self-care you’re practicing this week? 💚
