Another edition of GUESS THE DIAGNOSIS Parents?? 👀
(Youth edition)

I see this all the time in sporty kids (especially ages 10–14).
Your child who says:

“Back of my heel hurts after running/jumping… I need to come off in the football match…

…and it’s sore when you gently squeeze the heel (but there’s no redness/swelling) — what are you thinking?

Most parents get told it’s “just growing pains”… but there’s usually a clear reason, and a clear plan.

What helps most:
🔸reduce the high-impact stuff briefly (not total rest)
🔸support/cushion the heel

🔸build calf + foot strength back up gradually

SAVE this so you’ve got it when it flares up.

SHARE it with a parent at your club who needs it.

FOLLOW for more rehab + performance tips for young athletes.

Want exercises your child can start with?

Comment “REHAB” and I’ll make a video walking you through them step-by-step.

Diagnosis: Sever’s disease
(heel growth plate irritation).

Save this one, parents 👇🏾🎾

If your child looks “tight” through the hips, it’s not always a stretching problem.
A lot of the time it’s a control problem — they can’t own the range yet, so the body finds a way to cheat (or avoid it).

That’s why I love this drill: 90/90 hip work + balancing a tennis ball on a cone. Which is beautiful demonstration by just turned 8 year old tennis player 🎾💙
It gives instant feedback:
🔸Ball stays still = good control + quality position
🔸Ball drops/wobbles = they’ve rushed it, collapsed, or lost the hip position

How to use it (quick + easy)
1. Get into 90/90 (tall chest)
2. Balance a tennis ball on a cone (or bottle cap)
3. Move slow and keep the ball steady
4. 2 rounds x 20 seconds each side

This is the kind of “mobility” that actually transfers to tennis: mobile + strong + coordinated.

“THE WEEK IN THE LIFE A SPORTS PHYSIO.💚⚽️
pitch side ready, anti-gravity rehab, hours on the coach, hotel room recovery protocols, continuous learning, and then... watching two of my athletes hit massive milestones.

That’s why we do the unglamorous stuff. The process always pays off 💚

Look after yourself too – you can’t build champions if you’re running on empty.

Every day is about keeping athletes on the pitch or getting them back there.

Follow along for the daily grind of a sports physio ⚽

Where learning never stops and the wins make it all worth it.

HUGE CONGRATS XANDER! 🎾🏆

4th place in the Under 9’s National Championships – whilst still being an Under 8 player who literally just turned 8 last week.
That’s absolutely brilliant! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Playing against boys a year older and holding your own like that takes serious skill, mental toughness, and resilience.

You should be incredibly proud.

We’re so proud of you here at Resilient Physio too – watching young athletes like you push boundaries and compete at the highest level - is exactly why we do what we do.

Keep that momentum going & keep believing.

Happy to be part of the journey 🎾💪🏾
