2 years ago today, this popped up on my timeline 💛🖤 ⚽️🐺

A next time for reflection.

My first job in football as a physio at Wolverhampton Wanderers FC academy.

Feels like yesterday and a lifetime ago all at once.

The nerves. The excitement.
The imposter syndrome hitting hard on day one.

Since then? I am now a 1st team physio in Professional football & own a physiotherapy & Performance business.
Still learning. Absolutely.
Still developing. Each day.

But that's the beauty of this job—you never stop growing.

When athletes blame their performance drop on everything except the obvious 👀

Overtraining and poor recovery are two sides of the same coin.

You can't out-train inadequate rest, nutrition, and sleep 💤

Your body adapts during RECOVERY, not during training.

Push hard, but recover harder 💪

Key signs you're in this cycle:
• Persistent fatigue and decreased performance
• Increased injury risk and longer recovery times
• Poor sleep quality and mood changes
• Elevated resting heart rate

The fix? Prioritise sleep, nutrition, active recovery, and listen to your body.

6 things I constantly have to explain to patients due to some misinformation they have received 🙈

“Just rest it for 6 weeks” 🚫

Rest while injured isn’t the answer.

Here’s why ⬇️

Your body needs movement and your muscles needs a stimulus to heal properly.

Complete rest leads to muscle weakness, stiffness, and a higher chance of re-injury when you return.

If your physio or doctor is telling you to totally rest for 6 weeks, find yourself a new one ASAP.

Recovery should be active, progressive, and strategic - not passive waiting.

It Was All A Dream ⚽

It’s not all been plain sailing but we got there in the end. This is part of who I am and I’m still not the finished article. 📈

I grew up with one goal: play professional football. And I did it. Signed my professional contract at 17 for Walsall, first ever goal scorer for AFC Telford & played for TNS in Europe.

Lived the dream I’d had since I was a kid kicking a ball in the park.

But football is unpredictable. Injuries happen. Careers shift. And sometimes the dream changes shape.

So I went to university. Studied physiotherapy.

Learned how to help athletes stay on the pitch, recover stronger, and perform at their best.

Now? I’m a First Team Physio at a professional football club.

I’m still on the pitch. Still part of the game. Still living the dream—just in a different shirt 🩺

To anyone whose path didn’t go as planned:

That doesn’t mean it’s over. Sometimes the detour becomes the destination.❤️

Keep the good fight of faith & keep going. Believe in yourself. 🙏🏾
