Today’s post is a little bit different… but it felt worth sharing 💛

If you’re anything like me, mum guilt creeps in all the time. The “should I be doing more?”, the fear of missing out, the constant juggle of childcare and everything else.

With the Easter holidays, wires got a little crossed and I ended up with a child-free day… and no work.

At first, I felt awful. I tried to fill it, fix it, make it make sense.

But after chatting to some of you lovely lot, I did something different… I just enjoyed it.

No rushing to the school run, no housework waiting… just time for me, doing something I love.

And it made me realise something…

We’re so quick to give other mums kindness and reassurance, but rarely give it to ourselves.

Yes, I missed him… but sometimes, I miss me too 🤍

So if you’re ever feeling that doubt or guilt creeping in, try listening to what you’d say to another mum… and say it to yourself.

You deserve that too ✨

✨ End of another wonderful week of messy play ✨

This week has been such a lovely one… and with the little move around, I noticed just how engaged the children were 🥹

Sometimes the smallest changes make the biggest difference — a new layout, a fresh way to explore, and suddenly their curiosity sparks all over again. I absolutely love watching them dive in with new excitement 💛

Thank you so much for joining me this week, whether you’re a regular face or new to our sessions — I’m so grateful for you all.

Now onto the next bit of fun… I can’t wait to see you all at our Easter sessions 🐣✨

A question I get asked all the time is…
“How long have you been running your messy play classes?”

Honestly… it feels like I’ve always been doing it in some way 🤣

I’ve always loved messy play. Back when I was a nursery nurse, I was that member of staff bursting into rooms announcing chocolate mud play was about to happen 😂

Then I had Alfie… and that love grew even more. I started creating little trays at home, and during lockdown it genuinely kept me sane.

Even while working in nursery, I always had this feeling in the back of my mind… I want this to be my thing.

So I started small — evening sessions at the nursery, then one class a week on my day off. I was SO nervous, but people loved it 🥹

Covid meant messy play looked a bit different back then… but we made it work.

Then came the big step — leaving the job I’d always known to go all in on my own.

From travelling hall to hall with a car full to the brim, to the stress, the tears… but you all kept coming, and that meant everything 🤍

And then… the biggest turning point — bringing messy play home.

Smaller classes, more freedom, no limits on the mess 🙌 and flexibility around my family.

And the name?
That’s all because of Alfie — my little explorer, my rainbow boy 🌈
Without him, I don’t think I’d have ever had the courage to start.

Running a business is hard — there’s SO much behind the scenes.
But I honestly wouldn’t change it for the world.

Thank you for being part of my messy community 🤍
(and if you got this far… thank you 🤣)

❤️

✨ This week at messy play… we’re growing, exploring & getting muddy ✨

Our Gardens Growing theme is here and it’s full of hands-on, sensory fun inspired by nature and the little things children love to explore.

Inside, we’ll be getting stuck into a magical mix of textures — from our cloud dough vegetable garden to gloopy frog ponds, flower potions and a spaghetti spring garden.

Outside is where the real magic happens this week… with our refreshed layout ready for brighter days ☀️
Think digging, splashing, creating and exploring — from dinosaur adventures and digger play to apple washing, frog lifecycle water play and messy bug hunts in chocolate gloop 🐸🪱

Messy play is where curiosity grows 🌱

I can’t wait to welcome you all this week 💛

I honestly don’t know where this week has gone… it’s absolutely flown by ✨

It’s been such a wonderful week spending time with you all, exploring, playing and learning all about ourselves 💛 I’ve loved seeing the children’s confidence shine through in every tray.

Messy play isn’t just fun… it’s teaching real life skills ✨

This week, alongside all the exploring and creativity, we’ve been focusing on everyday routines like teeth brushing and hand washing.

Through play, children get the chance to practise these important skills in a way that feels safe, fun and pressure-free.

Because the truth is — children learn best through play.

They watch, they copy, they explore… and before you know it, those little moments turn into real confidence in everyday life 💛

✨ This week at messy play… it’s all about the children

Our “All About Me” theme has been inspired by your little ones — thank you for sharing what they love 💛

Inside, we’ll be exploring their favourite things, our world and emotions through sensory play. Outside, we’ll be getting messy with creative activities like self-portraits, building and hands-on role play.

A week of exploring who they are and what makes them them ✨

Happy Mother’s Day 💐

Today is for celebrating all the incredible mums, grandmas, step mums, carers and mother figures who give so much of themselves every single day.

Being a mum is the most beautiful, exhausting, emotional and magical journey all rolled into one. The love, patience and strength you show your children never goes unnoticed.

I feel so lucky that through my classes I get to meet so many wonderful mums and watch the special bonds you share with your little ones.

However today looks for you — whether it’s full of cuddles, messy play, quiet moments or remembering someone special — I hope you feel appreciated and loved.

You are doing an amazing job 🤍

Happy Mother’s Day.

✨ Our week so far… ✨

What a lovely few days we’ve had getting messy together!

This week the children have been exploring our Mother’s Day ‘Messy Spa’ theme and it’s been such a joy to watch them dive into the activities. From mixing face masks and making bath salts to splashing in foot spas and creating their own “breakfast in bed”, every tray has been filled with imagination, laughter and lots of mess!

Thank you to everyone who has joined us so far this week. I’m so grateful for this little messy play community we’ve built together. 💛

If you’re joining me tomorrow, I can’t wait to see you!
