Vitamin C

Let’s discuss Vitamin C

I’m sure you will all have seen on the shelves, skincare products containing vitamin c but do you know the reasons behind the use of it?

Basically in simple terms our bodies contain lots of little free radicals which are highly reactive unstable molecules.  Now these free radicals are produced naturally through our bodies but also generated through external factors like UV exposure, air pollution and cigarette smoke.  To achieve a stable form the free radicals ‘steal’ electrons from other nearby stable molecules to enable them to achieve stability. The process of stealing electrons from other molecules basically causes healthy molecules to die off triggering a chain reaction leading to the death of  healthy skin cells which in turn leads to premature aging, fine lines and wrinkles and hyperpigmentation.  Vitamin C in skincare is designed to be an antioxidant rich product helping to neutralise these free radicals and therefore helping to prevent premature aging.
