Employers (England) - are you looking to employ an apprentice ...

New financial incentives are now available for the Apprenticeship Programme.

One of the government plans to kick-start the economy is great news for the apprenticeship programme! Any employers who take on a new apprentice will now have additional financial help.

For a limited time, from 1st August 2020 to 31st January 2021, employers will receive a payment of £2000 for any new apprentice aged 16-24. They have also introduced a new bonus of £1500 for businesses to hire an apprentice aged 25 and over.

These payments are in addition to the exciting £1000 incentive the government already provides for new 16 to 18 year old apprentices. This means employers could receive up to £3000 for hiring a 16 to 18 year old apprentice over the next 6 months.

Seasonal Flu Campaign 2020/21

This season’s flu campaign is set to look very different for practices -whilst we can’t help with the delivery of vaccines, we can make sure you know exactly who your target patients are and we can validate your claims for you -taking the headache out of the IT processes for you.
There may well be some uncertainty about who to invite for flu vaccines this year, however, we will ensure you have a comprehensive list of patients to invite. In order for you to be as prepared as possible,

Insight’s best-selling seasonal flu remote dial-in service can be booked from mid-August 2020 onwards. If there are any subsequent changes to eligibility we will arrange a further dial-in to catch any newly eligible patients.

Our 2-part service will:•Identify ALL patients eligible? (part 1)•Ensure you understand which patients fall outside the main eligibility categories and how you need to code them for vaccines/claims? (part 1)•

Give you piece of mind you are claiming for all the vaccines you administer -automated claims do not catch those incorrected coded or those not eligible (part 2)

GP CONTRACTS & QOF 2020/21

Finally, we have some detail (Update to GP Contracts letter 9th July 2020) -but it remains very limited at this time.
The proposed changes include:

•Expansion to the winter flu programme -further information to follow•Focus on early cancer diagnosis and care of patients with a learning disability -requirements will be focussed on restoring care.

Payment will be conditional on practices working to the revised requirements. Full details will be published shortly

•Practices will be asked to maintain accurate disease registers -see more information on our QOF Health Checks
Maintain prescribing indicators•
Maintain the delivery of cervical screening indicators -to ensure rate of delivery is as close as possible to normal performance•

Income protection will be offered on other indicators subject to the delivery of revised focussed requirements -patients at greater risk of COVID-19, uncontrolled long term condition parameters and those with a history of missing reviews. Practices will need to agree their approach to patient prioritisation with their CCG.

More details to follow QOF will then be fully re-introduced in April 2021.

FP10 prescriptions are changing

New paper FP10 prescription forms are now available. The exemption boxes on the back of the prescription forms have been updated, making it easier for patients to claim the exemptions to which they are entitled. Practice’s should continue to use the old FP10 form until your stocks run out -
