We welcomed back Singalong with Singing Gwen again this week, who holds lively, interactive music classes for babies and toddlers.

Those living with us absolutely love Singalong with Singing Gwen, and it is an excellent way to boost both their mental and physical health. Singing familiar nursery rhymes and classic songs enhances More...Reminiscence and More...Sensory, as it can help residents unlock memories, providing joy and a sense of purpose.

Singalong with Singing Gwen will be back bringing the festive spirit on Tuesday 2nd December at 11am as we enter the busy Christmas period!🎄

We've had another amazing week here at Lace Hill, packed with engaging activities designed to keep those living with us happy, healthy and connected.

We got creative in the kitchen, making delicious mug cakes. Baking stimulates the senses, boosts memory recall, and provides a wonderful sense of accomplishment. We also enjoyed our weekly 'Just Bowl' session, a great low-impact exercise that improves hand-eye coordination and muscle strength. A huge congratulations to Barbara for winning the monthly tournament again for another month in a row! Can Barbara make it a hat trick and win this month?

To enhance MORE...movement, we used our Motiview bike for virtual travel experiences, which keeps everyone physically active, improves mobility, and sparks great conversation. Our Thursday Quiz Club kept minds sharp and encouraged MORE...socialising.

We also used the interactive Magic Table to promote MORE...sensory and got into the Halloween spirit with a screening of Hocus Pocus in our cinema room for our Friday Film Club.

As always, our weeks here at Lace Hill are never dull!

Those living with us had a hauntingly good time at this week's flower arranging activity, with a very special Halloween twist thanks to our amazing carer Donna! They swapped vases for pumpkins and filled them with beautiful blooms, showing off their artistic flair.

More than just a pretty decoration, this hands-on craft is excellent for cognitive stimulation, keeping minds active and engaged by encouraging planning and More...Creativity. It's also great for More...Socialising, as working on a shared project together is a wonderful way for those living with us to chat, bond, and reminisce over Halloweens past 👻

Happy Halloween from everyone here at Lace Hill Manor!

We want to start off by saying a huge thank you to everyone who has donated to our October Dog Walking Challenge in aid of Dementia UK. We have managed to raise a grand total of £459.09!!

In total, over the past month, we have managed to surpass our goal of 75miles by walking a total of 84 miles! Princess Timmi, Isla and Cooper have absolutely loved showing off their bandanas as our star walkers, especially for such a great cause. Even as the days are getting shorter and the weather is getting colder, The Pink Ladies have still smashed their goal.

If you would still like to donate, please follow the link below:

Thank you again to everyone who has kindly donated, we really do appreciate all of the support!

This week brought some extra Halloween cheer to our care home!

Our wonderful Pets as Therapy dog, Ruby, arrived for her visit dressed as the cutest little pumpkin. Those living with us adored the festive surprise, and it was a fantastic reminder of the joy our furry friends bring. It’s amazing to see how a simple visit can spark so many smiles and happy memories! Therapy dogs, like Ruby, are great for improving emotional and psychological wellbeing and enhancing MORE...socialising.

We can't wait to see Rubys Christmas outfit...

On Thursday we had the fantastic ladies from the Alina Orchestra come and play for those living with us.

Alina is a registered charity orchestra that wants to make classical music accessible and inclusive for everyone in the community. They work with Care Homes across Milton Keynes and Buckinghamshire to provide support to those living with neurological disorders, providing a bespoke programme of workshops, and helping improve the quality of life of residents.

The Alina Orchestra ladies are incredible, and they adapt to every resident's preference and need. Having music like this is great for enhancing MORE...rhythm and reminiscence, with music being great for boosting mood and helping with memory recall through listening to familiar songs.

Thank you to the Alina Orchestra for coming into our home, we absolutely love having you!

This Halloween, those living with us were swept off their feet by the sensational Fiona 'A Voice in a Million', who performed her specially devised Big Band and Swing Halloween show: “Fly Me to the Moon”!

With a spooky twist and vintage flair, Fiona’s set featured Rat Pack favourites like “Fly Me to the Moon”, “Witchcraft”, “That Old Black Magic”, and “Blue Moon”, alongside beloved classics from The Wizard of Oz and rock & roll gems like “Love Potion Number Nine” and “Devil in Disguise”, to name just a few!

Fiona’s voice, spanning music from the 1880s to the 1970s, brought nostalgia, joy, and a touch of Halloween magic to Lace Hill. Entertainers like Fiona do more than perform, they spark memories, encourage more...connection and create moments of pure happiness for our residents.

Thank you, Fiona Harrison - A Voice in a Million for a truly unforgettable show, we can't wait to see you again at Christmas!

Last Friday, the bistro was packed to celebrate one of our lovely residents, Lauri's, 90th birthday! Her family and friends filled the bistro with lots of decorations and photos of memories.

We also had the fantastic Elvis come, which our residents absolutely loved! Celebrating events like this provides opportunities for residents to create new memories and connect with family, friends and staff. In addition, having Elvis is great for stimulating memories and enhancing MORE...reminiscence. Familiar music can evoke nostalgia and can provide a connection to the past.

Thank you again to Lauri's family for organising this fantastic party! Happy 90th birthday Lauri!🥳

Our monthly dementia cafe at Lace Hill was a resounding success once again! There was a truly wonderful and lively atmosphere as those living with us came together for a morning of music, singing, and instrumental fun.

The Dementia Cafe is so much more than just a good time; they create a warm and supportive environment. This musical engagement and shared experience create moments of joy and connection and are great for enhancing MORE...rhythm and reminiscence. It's a beautiful thing to see our community come together in this way, sharing smiles, laughter, and stories.

Please join us for our next one on Wednesday 26th November at 11am here at Lace Hill!

Another weekly update of what we have been up to here at Lace Hill...

We welcomed back Move with Ruth, who comes once a month to provide an exercise session for our lovely residents. This activity is open to anyone in the community, so if you would like to join in for a fun-filled session, please contact reception😊

Next, we tried out a game of volleyball in the bistro. This was not only a great way to enhance MORE...movement, but it also encouraged MORE...socialising between our residents. We also enjoyed our weekly more movement and quiz sessions, which our residents look forward to each time! Having regular clubs is great for our residents to feel more connected and part of a community.

To end the week, in our creative club we made autumnal wreaths which was great for MORE...creativity. We also had MORE...fresh air with some lovely walks outside in the cold sun!

We love having fun-filled weeks at Lace Hill, with our weekly updates being a great way to show it!
