Just in case I forget to say later this month as we get busier…….

As we approach another Christmas and reach the brink of a new year, I have been reflecting.

I am so grateful that the practice has survived and continues to grow. I adore my job - but I take nothing for granted. I feel absolutely privileged to do what I do and am thrilled that we have added two exceptional doctors to the team in Harriet and Clare. We are also so lucky to be supported by an incredible front of house team in Alison and Ollie.

Please join me in thanking them all.

We have so many plans for next year - but our signature passionate patient CARE will remain front and centre.

So, I offer my humble thanks for allowing me to continue doing what I love. We don’t always get it right but we always try our very very best.

We look forward to caring for you and yours in 2026.

Today we have been thinking of those who have lost their lives to AIDS since the 1980s.

In 2025 there are many people living with HIV - but thankfully they can expect to live normal healthy lives due to modern anti-retroviral treatments.

Patients on treatment who have undetectable levels of the virus cannot pass the virus onto partners. Undetectable = Untransmissable. U=U. An amazing achievement of modern medicine and regular testing programs.

The picture has been slowly changing. In many areas of the UK the majority of new HIV diagnoses are now in straight men and women - not least due to gay men and other men who have s*x with men having regular tests, taking PrEP (preventative treatment) or HIV treatment and being U=U and so not passing the virus onto partners.

By way of health promotion and disease prevention, we are pleased to announce that for the entire month of December we will be offering a FREE HIV test as an add-on to anyone having blood tests for other reasons.

Please remember that negative HIV test results do not need to be disclosed to insurers. Equally we do not disclose testing to your usual GP or other parties without your consent.

With effective treatments and the need to protect patients and partners, now, more than ever, it’s BETTER TO KNOW.
