Well, that time has come. On Friday RHSportstherapy closed down at least for now. I'd like to thank all that helped me to get started. Rob Francis, Rosie Lewis, Paul Barlow and Steve Cowling. Most of all though all of you that passed through my clinic door.
It was a tough descion to make but one that I couldn't avoid making unfortunately.
Who knows, there may come a time when I'll be able to start again, but for now, my sincere thanks and gratitude.

I see a lot of clients who say that they have sciatica. Yet in some of these cases they actually have what is called Piriformis syndrome.
The difference in the two conditions are that Piriformis is a muscle and sciatica is a nerve related issue.
They both create numbness and pain usually down the left side.
Below are some typical stretches that can help reduce the pain of both conditions.

Whatever injury is presented to you as a therapist, these 4 phases of rehab progression should be foremost in your mind.
This helps both you and your clients to understand the pathway to them becoming injury free and returning to their activity.

As a sports therapist, it's important to understand the mechanics of a clients sporting discipline. It is also very important that the client understands this as well. The picture shows how much force goes through a runners body at any one time.
If runners (in this instance) aren't aware of this, it could potentially lead to some form of injury.
So, whatever sport you are involved in, please take time to understand the demands placed up on the body and make sure you are in the best possible shape to participate.
