Pendeen Car Boot Sales At Stratton.

Twenty eight days on this ship in a fortnights time. With questions asking when we are opening its most likely that anyone asking during the time we are away no answer from us until we are home and at the desktop computer. Will update the mobile message but there again signal could cause a problem whilst at sea.
We hope to open the car boot sale on the 29th March weather permitting as so many now know we have extended Pendeen for one final season. Sandra and I are hoping to come back full of energy to commit ourselves. The volunteers remain as strict as before in insuring no one takes advantage of how successful Pendeen is organised and run and as soon as any wrong doing is reported we act pretty swiftly. As a family we hope we can say at the end of season that was well worth doing that once more to bring so much pleasure to so many and end Pendeen on a high. 🤔

THANKS TO PAUL for this image very clever.

Having visited my mum in Stratton Hospital yesterday 24th January. Karl visiting just before me it is so good to see that Stratton has such a wonderful facility as this. Having raised so much money for this hospital over the years and now a benefit for Mum to recuperate until being allowed home. On my own page, I have a video of Stratton Church, St. Andrews this was fascinating showing more than you realise when there. Again, so much money has been raised from our sales to help this church financially. We hear so much money being raised for other charities and causes in Bude, but Stratton has something very special, so if the weather is kind this season of car boot sales coming, we may be able to support them once again. Last year was a high and going to take some beating. Sandra and I go on our holiday soon and come back the Sunday before the opening. If the forecast is good, then for the 29th of March that week before will be so busy preparing on our own site to bring Pendeen back into action for another commitment from us in bringing you the largest and most generous weekly event in the Southwest.

Whilst away its unlikely we will be able to communicate on this F.B. page the four weeks in the Caribbean on Cunard's Queen Victoria so will update asap when home on the 22nd. Whether the weather is settled by then to open a decision hopefully forthcoming on the Friday 27th March 2026 TWO MONTHS to go hang in there Thanks again Paul’s Photography & Drone Media Group 🙂

It’s that time of year again with Autumn having been so very wet and now we go into Winter with Christmas on us soon. Then the New Year and before we know it The Pendeen Car Boot Sales will hopefully be up and running the last Sunday in March weather permitting. As other years hardly a day goes by without someone mentioning Pendeen to us.

Booters that have moved to this area recently are already inquiring after finding us on Google not knowing about this face book page. There are also those folk that have lived here since Pendeen started and never been and then there are those that travel miles even hours away just to attend what has been created in the Town of Stratton the biggest family weekly social event which is just so popular.

2025 would have been such a good year to end on a high and let new beginnings take over elsewhere but with the huge outcry and news headlines. As a family we are committing ourselves to the 2026 season to round off my thirty years being so involved and making it a pleasurable experience for the majority to attend whether a newbie or an established regular.

As a family we wish everyone that attends Pendeen no matter how many times.

Being on the stage from the early seventies in Bude in pantomimes and Summer shows. Entertaining the visitors and locals being younger having comical roles right up to Sophia and Karl being born and having a ten year break. A few years later on stage with them. It was such great fun and a great laugh by all entertaining. But public speaking and being serious is just not me the nerves kick in. Having been asked to make an unprepared speech last year it was more or less a short Thank you so this year a short Thank you was prepared and yes was asked again. I will say I am happier on the keyboard to the desktop writing updates on this page and replying to all questions as soon as seen. Because of the interaction on this page I am truly THANKFUL and so many see or get to hear about Pendeen car boot sale. Having ballroom dancing lessons in the early sixies, Meeting Sandra in 1985 through dancing Old Tyme and then Modern Sequence dancing and now co hosting a dancing group weekly on a Thursday afternoon tea dance has turned into something rather unexpected. One year old this Thursday afternoon. 🎂🥳
My 70th yes 70 in April being a Saturday, A evening of sequence dancing has been arranged to celebrate. If the boot sale is on the following day I haven't the energy like I had thirty years ago. But THANKS to TEAM PENDEEN that tell me to clear off sometimes and Karl running the sale with just me being there keeping the Porto Loos in a very respectable condition Pendeen can carry on for one more season. 🙂

There may have been no car boot sale at Pendeen today but the volunteers were altogether for their annual Sunday Carvery after a very sucessful season. Thanks have also been extended to the volunteers from the Trustees of the League of Friends Of Stratton Hospital. Our decision to close this season after last Sundays brilliant day has proved the right thing to do. Just one small note now since 1996 from small beginnings at Rockbank for seven years to the last 22 years at Pendeen. The car boot sales have now raised £234,499.78 for charities and organisations as a family we have supported. Then there are all the charities that have a free pitch at Pendeen to raise much needed funds for their cause. If any charitable cause needs funds come and have a free pitch to sell. The footfall and free parking for buyers and being so dog friendly makes Pendeen and as Pauls song says we hope to be stronger than before even if its only an extra Porto Loo.
TEAM PENDEEN will be back hopefully Sunday March 29th 2026 with Easter the following weekend weather permitting. 😊

We certainly had a blast on the last sale breaking the record considerably. Donations came to £974.67 with all the coinage, 20-pound notes, 10-pound notes and 5-pound notes, foreign coins and a washer. Outstanding amount I am so thankful for the appreciation and all the thanks received and to find the site so litter free to end. It is our policy not to provide bins for litter only dog poo bins and they are not for drinks cans which should be taken to the bins provided by the caterers or recycled at your home. The site needs to be left as found when entering.

THANK YOU TO ALL THE DONATION COLLECTORS over the season of 2025 It just shows by just being there holding a bucket what a terrific amount can be achieved. Having the main man John Wickett who arranges the rota there was a bonus whose dedication for so many years has been a huge advantage to the League of Friends. Peter, Rob, Di, Cynthia and Michael Thank you for staying so long in the sunshine.

THANKS TO TEAM PENDEEN you make my life so much easier although 29 years seems enough. With Karl as the boss for a while now and Sandra being the one that has said I might as well do one more year to make 30 years. This would have been a good year to end on such a high. With Bude Metric Brass Band playing us out with so much appreciation from so many folks and Colin saying they want to come back next year. OH NO ANOTHER SEASON BECKONS.

TEAM PENDEEN brings you the last car boot sale of this season SUNDAY September 28th 2025 with four previous Sunday cancellations I’m hoping we can now finish on a high with trumpets blaring. Grass has been mown but will be very damp first thing. PLEASE DRIVE CAREFULLY ON SITE. 🙂
