At this time of year, many of us are so busy ensuring that everyone else is happy and things will all go smoothly on the run up to Christmas, that our own self-care often just gets put to the bottom of an ever growing list.
So, in the lead up to Christmas, I'm sharing a few ideas to bring a little self-care into your day. Let me know if you try them, and if you have any suggestions of your own, I'd love it if you could share them in the comments!
Let's start things off with a simple breathing exercise that you can do any any time during the day, and is particularly good at bed time to prepare you for sleep.
🌼 Close your eyes if they're open.
🌼 Take a few big, deep breaths and while you do this create a picture in your mind and a word or phrase to help you feel more relaxed.
🌼 Breathe in. As you do that, imagine that the air is filled with a sense of peace and calm. Try to feel it throughout your body.
🌼 Breathe out. While you're doing it, imagine that the air leaves with your stress and tension.
🌼 Now use a word or phrase with your breath. As you breathe in, say in your mind, "I breathe in peace and calm."
🌼 As you breathe out, say in your mind, "I breathe out stress and tension."
🌼 Continue for several minutes, depending on how much time you have available.
