As a family-owned company with a long heritage of helping and supporting those who are experiencing bereavement, we understand that everyone is an individual. That’s why we focus on providing a truly personalised, caring and quality service and take pride in maintaining the highest of professional standards. In fact, we’ve been helping families with funeral arrangements for generations now, so no-one understands better than us what a distressing and difficult time it can be for those left behind. The world around us may have altered dramatically since our earliest roots over 331 years ago, but what hasn’t changed is our commitment to being here every step of the way for the bereaved in our communities when they need us the most.

From our family to yours, Merry Christmas.

Three marathons. Two weeks. One cause.

Anastasia, our Funeral Director at Cooper & Son in Lewes, is running Brighton, Newport, and London back-to-back this April. For Samaritans. For her mum, who died by su***de in 2008. For herself, because she's called Samaritans when things got dark and she knows the voice on the other end of that line can be the difference between making it through the night and not.

Sunday was her first fundraising day. Six hours. £1,022.13 raised. But something else happened too.

People stopped. They talked. They shared stories of loss, of struggle, of the moments when everything felt impossible. They just wanted someone to listen. That's what Samaritans do.

Next fundraiser: 30th January, Tesco Superstore, Lewes.

For those who aren’t here, but are always with us.

This Christmas at Shires, Luton, families were invited to create memory baubles for our memory tree, while neighbours left messages on our Never Alone Wall for those finding this season hard. Words of kindness, love, and support.

If this season feels heavy, please know you are not alone. People who care are closer than you think.

🕯️💜 Our first Christmas memorial service at St John's Church in Polegate. Over 100 people joined us on Thursday evening.

Christmas can be hard when you're missing someone. Being together helps. Remembering together helps more.

The memorial candles and knitted buddies have gone home with families. The tags are on our tree here at Haine & Son.

Thanks to your generosity, the retiring collection raised £240.60 for the Children With Cancer Fund

🏫💬 Talking about death with 14-year-olds.

Last Friday, Victoria from our Hove funeral home joined Kings School's Careers Speed Networking Event. Her topic? What a funeral arranger actually does.

The reaction? Shock. Curiosity. Then surprisingly mature questions. What's a typical day like? How do you cope? Why choose this work?

Seventeen professionals. One gym. A hundred Year 9 students figuring out their futures, asking about everything from law to engineering to what happens when someone dies.

Death work isn't what most 14-year-olds expect at a careers event. But they asked real questions. And they listened.

Because someone has to arrange funerals. And when you do it right, it matters.

Incredible Carol 🧶💜

Sixty tiny knitted buddies hiding hope around Berrycroft Community Health Centre.

You’re never alone.

🧶💜 Sixty tiny hand-knitted buddies. Hidden throughout Berrycroft Community Health Centre in Aylesbury.

Every single one was made by Carol.

She tucked them in waiting rooms. Behind magazines. On windowsills. In the spaces between worry and appointments. Each one carries the same message: "you're never alone."

For anyone who needs to find one. To keep or pass on.

Carol is part of the Knit & Natter group in Aylesbury. Every Wednesday, they meet at the Buckinghamshire Community Wellbeing Hub (Buckinghamshire New University, 59 Walton Street, Aylesbury HP21 7QG) from 10am to 12:30pm.

Want to join them? Come along. Or for any questions, contact Maria Butler at community.bucks@cpjfield.co.uk or call 07879 556925.

🕯️ "We found it very helpful to be together with other folk who were grieving the loss of a loved one."

One family's words after Saturday's Memorial Service at the Church of the Holy Spirit, Aylesbury. Familiar faces and new ones, together.

That is exactly what these services are for.
